Cun-jin Wu, Secretary for the Land Administration Bureau of Taichung City Government, said that land registration and surveying business involves a lot of legislation, and it is difficult for immigrant residents from Vietnam to understand the relevant laws and regulations. Communication in Guoyu may cause misunderstandings or problems for immigrant residents.
The Land Administration Bureau said that according to the statistics of the Ministry of the Interior, the number of foreign spouses with Vietnamese nationality ranks first among all foreign spouses except for mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao. We can see that the number of new Vietnamese residents coming to Taiwan is on the rise. Due to the high number of immigrant residents, land rights have caused a considerable impact on the people. To avoid misunderstandings caused by language barriers and failure to provide correct service information, the Zhongxing Land Office solves this problem through a one-to-one interpretation consulting service to improve service efficiency.
Jian-shen Lin, director of Zhongxing Land Office, further explained that Zhongxing Land Office set up a Vietnamese service window at the service desk on the first floor. Colleagues proficient in the Vietnamese language work as service personnel to assist the public in consultation, and they can direct the public to the relevant department according to the problems they encounter. If there is a demand for Vietnamese service in each department, colleagues will assist the interpretation through flexible service to solve people’s land problems.
