According to the design, the Center’s underground space will be parking space; the 1st floor will be used as a transit space for city buses; the 2nd and 3rd floors will be national highway bus platforms; and the 4th floor will be organized into a space for commercial activities and offices. In this project, the Center will integrate public transportation means, including national highway buses, city buses, MRT, taxis and iBike; and will provide a parking space that can fit 42 national freeway buses, 12 city buses, 614 vehicles, 1,253 motorcycles and 604 bicycles.
Director General Yeh explains that the exterior of the Transit Center is designed with elements that convey a sense of speed and technology. Apart from Taichung City’s first full solar roof and strengthened energy-saving and carbon reduction measures, the Center will also provide capsule lounge rooms and an operations control center to offer drivers an attentive and comfortable resting environment and to further guard the traffic safety of the national highway. In addition, the Center is designed with a smart parking system and smart charging stations for buses in order to minimize carbon footprint while optimizing its transit functions as well as the overall development of Shuinan Economic and Trade Park.
Moreover, for those who desire to enter the Park, Shuinan Transit Center also functions as an interception point for private transportation tools. Oriented to the visions of Shuinan Economic and Trade Park “Smart, Low-carbon, and Innovation”, the Center provides electric shuttle bus services to the Park. Moreover, it will integrate with the nearby public facilities, including Shuinan International Convention Exhibition Center, Taichung Green Museumbrary, Central Park and Central Taiwan Film Center, to build an emerging core settlement of the city. The Bureau explains that Shuinan Transit Center will integrate bus schedule information to assist passengers taking a bus or transiting. Technology will also be adopted in the system to optimize the waiting hours and enhance people’s riding time efficiency to effectively implement vehicle control within the Center and further increase the seat utilization rate.
