The "Polaris" is about to shine! On June 30 this year, the Taichung city government completed the tender process and the contract signing operation for the long-awaited construction of the Taichung Shuinan Transit Center. The Director of the Bureau of Transportation, Zhao-Fu Ye, said that construction could begin as soon as the preparations are completed. The Shuinan Transit Center locates at the northernmost end of the Shuinan Trade and Economic Park, with the "North Star" as the design axis. It is like the North Star of the park, which guides tourists to return home. When people drive along the highway and see the Transit Center, they know they are approaching the warm city of Taichung.
The Director of the Bureau of Transportation Ye pointed out that Taichung City has been continuing to build transit centers. Among them, the Greater Taichung Transit Center started construction in June as the Bureau completed the Feng Yuan Transfer Station and expected it to open this summer. They have also completed the contract signing of the "Shuinan Transit Center New Construction Project" and are currently fully handling the pre-processing work. After completing the preparation, the construction will start immediately. The new transit center will form a new gateway for passenger transport for Taichung Buses and create a bright spot in the city. Director Ye of the Transportation Bureau emphasized public facilities such as the Shuinan International Convention Exhibition Center, Taichung Green Museumbrary, Taichung Central Park, and the Central Taiwan Cinema Center around the Shuinan Transit Center, and the proximity to the Ke-Nan Love Bridge, which are decorated with lights at night to illuminate the night sky and each other, will open up a new horizon for the night scene of the Shuinan Economic and Trade Park.
Besides, the city government designed the first building with an all-solar roof in Taichung City according to the development vision of "smart, low-carbon, and innovative" in the Shuinan Economic and Trade Park. The design is novel and functional, and it conforms to the urban green energy index requirement of Shuinan Economic and Trade Park. The electricity generated by the solar panels will be prioritized to power the overall operation of the Transit Center building and nighttime lighting. It will become a low-carbon demonstration base in the Taichung area in the future. Director Ye further explained that they designed the Shuinan Transit Center as a multi-functional building with four floors above ground and three floors underground, and takes into account public transportation transfer, parking, and commercial functions. Among them, the underground levels are a three-dimensional parking lot, the ground level is for urban buses, the 2nd and 3rd floors are the passenger platforms of national highways, and the 4th floor above ground is commercial space and office space.
The Transit Center integrates public transport vehicles such as national highway passenger transport, urban bus, MRT, taxi, and iBike, providing 42 national highway bus spaces, 12 urban bus platforms, 614 cars, 1,253 locomotives, and 604 bicycle parking spaces. In addition, given that the Shuinan Transit Center is adjacent to the Daya Interchange of the National Highway No. 1 and Provincial Highway no. 74, the Bureau of Transportation will widely set up electric vehicle charging facilities in this area to drive the overall green transportation development. The exterior part of the building has both a sense of speed and technology. Besides strengthening the overall greening, energy saving, and carbon reduction, the Transit Center also configures capsule-style driver's lounges and an operation control center to provide a thoughtful and comfortable resting environment. It is like the "Polaris that lights up the night sky of Shuinan!" It protects the driving safety of the national highway and has become one of the indicative buildings in the Shuinan Economic and Trade Park.
