Da-Tian Chen, the Construction Bureau Director, stated that this year’s Magic Box World lighting zone of the Central Taiwan Lantern Festival, attracting 1.02 million visitors, won the International Awards Associate (IAA) MUSE Design Awards-Platinum Award in the lighting design category. The Construction Bureau invested in creativity and adopted low-carbon intelligent interactive exhibition arrangements to create a fantasy-themed Magic Box World. Breaking away from the traditional way of performing lantern festivals, it has successfully marketed in Central Park and lit up the city brand of the Central Taiwan Lantern Festival. After the lantern show the Magic Box still offers five popular exhibits for visitors to explore, which are now fully open. It includes UFO lighting, cute Ada rabbits, a tree of the life, an exit tunnel of light, and check-in hotspot facilities for interstellar teleportation.
Director Chen explained that Central Park covers an area of 67 hectares and is considered the urban green lung of Greater Taichung. Central Park also serves the public with intelligent living facilities, besides the rich natural ecology. The unique tourist service center with the theme of Manhattan International Terminal won the Gold Award in the Interior Design category. Visitors can come here to learn about the history of the Shui-nan Airport, experience a 270-degree simulated flight, and take photos in the cabin and cockpit of a 737-passenger plane.
Director Chen also reminded people that on May 7th, Taichung Picnic Day would debut at Central Park, Huludan Park, Aofeng Mountain Park, and Pinglin Forest Park four places at the same time. There is no need to register to participate in Taichung Picnic Day, and friends from all over the country are welcome to invite their dearest friends to a leisurely and relaxed grassland picnic.
