The National Day fireworks display returns to Taichung for the first time in nine years and promises to light up Taichung Central Park at 8 p.m. on October 10 this year! The casting time is 36 minutes, and the government will fire nearly 30,000 fireworks. It combines single-row potted flowers, single-shot fireworks, and various combinations of baseballs, hearts, double-ten, etc., with melodious jazz and drone performances. "On the national birthday, I hope everyone is happy!" Mayor Shiow-Yen Lu said that the city government had checked 16 viewing spots. These best viewing spots will allow people to avoid crowding to the main venue of Central Park. The city government has matched the second-best viewing spot with city lights, with different visual effects and a unique flavor. People are encouraged to find their preferred viewing spots and join in the celebration to fully enjoy the event!

The Taichung City Government held a municipal administrative meeting today (26th). Director of Civil Affairs Bureau Shi-Wei Wu and Director of Tourism and Travel Bureau Mei-Xiu Chen gave a project report and supplementary report titled "2023 National Day Fireworks in Taichung". According to Mayor Lu, the city government has been in fully mobilization mode after nine years since the last National Day fireworks display in Taichung. She has held four preparatory meetings, and various city government units have also held more than 100 meetings to ensure the public can fully appreciate the fireworks. It will be a four-day National Day holiday, so people from other counties and cities might flock to Taichung. Consumption of food, clothing, housing, transportation, entertainment, and entertainment will boost the city's economy. Many hotels are already fully booked. The city government welcomes and expects crowds to come to Taichung and conducts trial screenings to find viewing spots to disperse the mass so that people do not have to crowd into the main venue in Central Park and can enjoy the same excellent viewing effect. Mayor Lu said that these locations include the track and field of Feng Chia University and the ground access road of China Medical University, and she thanked the school for opening up public spaces. Although some of these secondary locations, such as Baiyang Mountain Holy Land, are further away, the combination of city lights and fireworks promises a unique visual experience.

"It doesn't matter if there are large crowds; safety and orderliness are our top priorities," stressed Mayor Lu. She pointed out that in previous years, various counties and cities had hosted large crowds, which often led to difficulties in moving around . She reminded everyone to prepare water and some snacks to quell hunger. However, you should not mess with the environment and remember to take the garbage away. Besides, about 1,000 meters from the venue is the largest Fengjia Night Market in the country, and the city government welcomes the public to visit. In addition to setting off fireworks, the city government arranged drone decorations and performances by well-known artists and local art and cultural groups. Although the government is preparing a fireworks display on October 9th, the government will arrange a warm-up party accompanied by drones and performance activities. The city government will continue to release information about viewing spots, transportation, connection sites, and medical sites, so citizens should pay attention.


Director Wu mentioned that personnel from the Civil Affairs Bureau and the Tourism and Travel Bureau conducted observations at a total of 16 locations. These spots were categorized as suitable and second-best viewing spots based on their distance and visibility conditions. The viewing places include Xitun, Beitun, Nantun, Daya, Houli, Fengyuan, etc., to recommend to citizens. The Cultural Affairs Bureau will also arrange a street performance at 17:00 on October 9 and 10 at the second basketball court of the Central Field, bringing together a total of 10 groups of street artists from all over Taiwan. The program content spans diabolo, mime, juggling, and circus stunts, immersing the audience in the joyful world of street art.

Director Chen elaborated on the plans for the "2023 National Day Fireworks in Taichung," which includes a two-day series of activities. The bureau will hold the charming Taichung night warm-up event on October 9 at 6:30 p.m. The artistic and cultural groups include the Face of Light, Shadow Just Behind Us, Lai Cuo Elementary School Choir, An-Her Junior High School Music Class, Coconut Tree Dance Studio performances, jazz music, and drone demonstrations. The bureau will also invite well-known artists, BIG CHANGE, Musou Band, Solidor, and Namewee Wee Meng Chee, to perform. On the dazzling National Day night on the 10th, besides the 36-minute main fireworks show, the bureau also arranges the art team Kuang-ming Junior High School Dance Class, Performing Arts Department of Shin Min High School, Taichung Royal Ballet, Shining Benlian-Flying in Taichung Performance, Jazz Music and Drones Performances. There will also be performances by well-known artists such as the Fire EX., OSN Gao, Amber An, and Matzka, a refreshing sensory experience for the compatriots.

Furthermore, the city government has planned five primary activities for the "Taichung Double Ten National Day Week" in October. The Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from 9/29 to 10/1 will start with the "Taichung International Dance Carnival." From 10/7 to 10/8, the relay will kick off with "ROCK IN TAICHUNG". 10/9-10/10 will officially launch the "2023 National Day Fireworks in Taichung" series of activities. From 10/13 to 10/22, the government will hold the "Taichung Jazz Festival" at the People's Square. In late October, the "Taichung Shopping Festival" kicks off. The celebrations are exciting every week until the end of the year.
