The Taichung City will debut the “2023 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival” in a colorful manner on November 11th, with an exhibition period lasting 23 days until December 3rd. It utilizes 200,000 plants and 23 types of flowers to create a 2-hectare exhibition area. The biggest highlight is the launch of Taiwan's first floating aerial flower castle, the "Floating Flower City," with a height of up to 16 meters and five floors, performing a dynamic show of floating clouds and mist on the hour. Deputy Mayor Yu-Min Wang attended the press conference of the Flower Carpet Festival on the 26th and welcomed the whole country to Taichung to experience the charm of the capital of happiness and enjoy an unprecedented flower event together.

"Full of happiness!" Deputy Mayor Wang indicated that the government had not hosted the Xinshe Flower Zone event for two years. This year, it has again combined with the Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival to launch a 23-day flower festival at the Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station in Xinshe. The biggest highlight of the exhibition area is the "Floating Flower City," Taiwan's first floating flower castle, with more than 30,000 plants and flowers planted, a total height of 16 meters, and a diameter of more than 50 meters. From 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily, the organizer will use powerful water mist technology and a bubble system to rotate and create a floating cloud effect, performing eight dynamic shows in the primary carpet area per day.

Deputy Mayor Wang explained that the government would be expanding the Flower Carpet Festival for the first time after the epidemic. In addition to various public departments such as bureaus and district offices taking action, civil society organizations have also joined in. She is very grateful to the central and local governments for their strong support, which has allowed the Flower Carpet Festival to return to its pre-epidemic level. This Flower Carpet Festival also cooperates with local businesses to set up Flora Shops, where the public can participate in DIY and experience the spirit of craftsmanship. The Agricultural Bureau also has a particular agricultural product marketing area with 120 stalls. People are invited to the flower carpet festival to enjoy flowers, and they can also take home delicious and fun agricultural unique products. The city government also jointly arranged a green-silver Ferris wheel with local long-term care institutions for the first time, showing the sustainable development of green care. During today's press conference, various businesses also set up stalls on-site to introduce their products. Deputy Mayor Wang visited each one and praised them for "promoting Taichung's characteristics!"

The Tourism and Travel Bureau stated that this year, the design theme is rooted in the local elements of "natural ecology, agricultural development, and humanistic wisdom," portraying the three prominent guardians of Flower City, aligning with Xinshe as a genuine embodiment of the dream country. The bureau also plans four creative-themed exhibition areas, including the Rainbow-Seven-Lines welcoming guests at the entrance, the Craft Goddess integrating local weaving and blue dyeing, the Ecological Warrior designed in the image of Mr. Isoda, the engineer who built the Bailengzhun, and the Earth Giant representing smart agriculture.

Mei-Xiu Chen, Director of the Tourism and Travel Bureau, mentioned that the city government has extended special invitations to domestic and foreign travel operators and photography groups to Taichung to conduct familiarization trips more than a month before the exhibition to attract domestic and foreign tourists as the national borders reopening after the epidemic. The bureau has also cooperated with several high-quality hotels to actively promote the domestic and foreign tourism markets, inviting foreign tourists to Taichung City for multi-day tours and attracting foreign tourists with the best quality hotel services to increase the popularity of the Flower Carpet Festival. During the event, the Tourism and Travel Bureau also cooperated with the Taichung B&B Association to launch five special tours jointly. Welcome everyone to experience the beauty of the mountain city in depth. If you stay at a partner B&B during the event period, you can enjoy various discounts.

Due to the limited parking spaces in the exhibition area this year, the Tourism and Travel Bureau has called on everyone to use the parking lots along the Taichung MRT line and take the free shuttle bus to the exhibition area from MRT Songzhu Station. This is to avoid traffic jams caused by the influx of vehicles and to ensure it does not affect your travel experience. The bureau plans unique shuttle bus routes to be "Fengyuan, Taiyuan, and Songzhu Lines" and adds "Dongshi and Venue Loop Lines" during holidays, a total of 5 lines. People can take the Taiwan Railway to Fengyuan and Songzhu stations and then transfer to the shuttle bus. The Tourism Bureau reminds the public that they will implement traffic control at the event site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Welcome everyone to use public transportation to go there.
