The sky in Taichung is becoming more and more lively! The long-awaited "Incheon-Taichung" route is about to start flying. Today (20th), Director of the Tourism and Travel Bureau of the Taichung City Government Mei-Xiu Chen, Korean Air Taipei Branch General Manager Min-Ting Xu, and Taichung International Airport Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications Rui-Shu Chang held a press conference for the launch of the flight at the Taichung City Hall. They announced that they will greet Korean tourists taking Korean Air's "Incheon-Taichung" route on December 10.
Director Chen stated that according to statistics from the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, as of October this year, the number of South Korean tourists visiting Taiwan had exceeded 550,000. The post-epidemic recovery has been strong. The Tourism and Travel Bureau is also actively striving for the resumption of the Korean route. She was pleased today and thanked Korean Air for their support, which made the sky in Taichung more lively. In addition to benefiting the tourism industry in Taichung, including accommodation, travel, and souvenirs, the tourism exchanges between Taichung and South Korea are also becoming closer.
Director Chang of the Taichung International Airport Director of the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications affirmed the critical significance of developing the Incheon-Taichung route of Korean Air for Taichung International Airport and Central Taiwan. Taichung International Airport has regular flights to Hong Kong, Macau, Nanjing, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and more. Since the beginning of this year, irregular routes have included Danang, Manila, Jeju, and Busan. Taichung International Airport actively renovated the exterior, interior, air bridges, and mechanical and electrical components during the pandemic to provide passengers better service. Presently, the airport boasts a new and improved appearance, inviting passengers to experience the enhancements.
General Manager Xu of Korean Air Taipei Branch is delighted the upcoming commencement of Korean Air’s flights between Incheon and Taichung. The airline will primarily utilize the 737 Max 8 model for this route. People have booked More than 60% of the seats on the inaugural flight, and the number continues to increase. Korean Air also hopes to use this new flight to further exchange tourism between Taichung and South Korea. The Tourism and Travel Bureau explained that the city government took the initiative to attract tourists and integrated the resources of eight counties and cities after gradually opening the border. The government has also actively communicated with airlines, the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, which is an industry management unit, the Taichung International Airport of the Civil Aviation Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, travel operators, and other relevant departments to strive to join hands with eight counties and cities in Central Taiwan to attract international inbound passengers.
