The April issue of the Taichung magazine is officially released today (19th)! Taichung has been buzzing with excitement lately as construction on the highly anticipated Taichung Arena kicks off and the city's population is on the brink of reaching 2.85 million. In this issue's cover story, titled “Taichung Arena, A Dream Coming True,” Taichung magazine takes you on a journey to explore this new global landmark from every angle.
In March 2024, the Taichung Arena commenced construction with a grand ceremony, witnessing the historic moment with over ten thousand attendees. The ceremony featured performances by local hit hop group Nine One One and popular boy band W0LF(S), hinting at the Arena's versatile functions. Led by the internationally acclaimed architect Kengo Kuma, the Taichung Arena stands as Taiwan's only dual-dome architectural design and the first complex in Central Taiwan that integrates sports, entertainment, and leisure amenities. With its indoor space capable of accommodating over ten thousand people and its open, boundary-less exterior design, the Arena will foster a strong bond with the city's everyday life.
To accommodate large sporting events and concerts, the Arena's main hall seating offers great flexibility, allowing for optimal arrangements based on the scale of different events. The interior's “acoustic design” effectively absorbs cheers during sports events or screams during concerts within 2 seconds, setting the highest standard for indoor venues in Taiwan. The Arena's exterior “Skywalk” design seamlessly connects with the daily lives of citizens in an open and boundary-less manner, allowing people to freely stroll and wander. The innovative architecture and spatial design are highly anticipated.
As the construction of the Arena kicks off, Taichung's population is about to reach 2.85 million. To meet the increasing demand for childcare, the city government is actively promoting initiatives like building more parent-child centers and providing more public childcare services to ease the burden on parents. Furthermore, with the Taichung Melody Project, they're creating accessible, all-age, inclusive parks perfect for family outings and bonding.
