During the hot summer and holiday season, water recreation activities are especially popular. The Taichung City Government places great emphasis on water safety, regularly holding rescue drills to improve lifesaving skills. Occasional joint awareness campaigns and enforcement actions are also conducted at Taichung's main dangerous water areas. By increasing inspection frequencies and using electronic public announcement devices, they strive to educate everyone to avoid wild streams, rivers, and dangerous waters, aiming to reduce drowning incidents.

According to the Tourism and Travel Bureau, the city government has announced 11 dangerous water areas. These areas have rapid currents, variable depths, many underwater rocks, small recirculation zones, whirlpools, calm but deep waters, undercurrents, and low temperatures, all of which can lead to drowning accidents if people lower their guard. The public is strongly advised to avoid these dangerous waters. When playing in water, be mindful of weather changes, warm up beforehand, avoid entering the water when tired, do not wear absorbent clothing or jeans, avoid risky behaviors, do not stay in the water for too long, and always choose safe areas with proper safety devices and lifeguards.

The Tourism and Travel Bureau also pointed out that safety should be the top priority for water activities. People are encouraged to use certified swimming pools that are available throughout the city. Detailed information can be found on the city government's Sports Bureau website. The Daan Beach Park in Taichung is also recommended for beachgoers interested in swimming, surfing, and kite surfing. The park has posted water safety rules and warning signs, and qualified lifeguards are present with equipment such as beach vehicles, life jackets, rescue tubes, and radios. Lihpao Resort’s Mala Bay features numerous water recreational facilities, lifeguards, and top-notch service facilities. The Summer Water Play Area at the Dayazhongke Park on the Tanyashen Green Bikeway has been open every Saturday and Sunday since mid-June, featuring mist sprays, water curtain sprays, tunnel fountains, volcano fountains, leaf spray columns, and two water cannons.

The Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that Taichung City has identified 11 dangerous water areas listed on the bureau's official website (https://www.tourism.taichung.gov.tw/283065/post). These areas are marked with warning signs that prohibit swimming and indicate dangerous water depths. All water activities in these areas are strictly prohibited. The city government has also formed a joint water safety inspection team to carry out occasional inspections and awareness campaigns at these dangerous sites, with a focus on promoting safety. Violators will be issued a warning ticket and asked to leave the area. Non-compliance will result in fines ranging from NT$10,000 to NT$50,000.

The Tourism and Travel Bureau advises everyone to prepare thoroughly before entering the water. Ensuring the safety of the water area and taking necessary safety precautions will allow you to enjoy water activities and return home safely.
