To make it easier for migrant workers in Taiwan to access healthcare information, the Ministry of Labor's Workforce Development Agency introduced the “Friendly Medical Map for Migrant Workers” feature on LINE@E-LINE starting October 1, 2024. The Labor Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government encourages employers and migrant workers to take advantage of this feature, aiming to enhance their quality of life and create a friendly healthcare environment.
The Labor Affairs Bureau noted that migrant workers in Taiwan often encounter language barriers during medical visits. To address this issue, the Ministry of Labor's Workforce Development Agency has introduced the “Friendly Medical Map for Migrant Workers” section on LINE@E-LINE. This friendly feature combines online translation in the workers’ native languages with real-time interpretation services. Migrant workers can quickly locate nearby clinics or hospitals in just a few steps, accessing comprehensive details about medical facilities. The feature also supports basic text-based communication. For more complex medical conversations, users can access the toll-free 1955 hotline for three-way interpretation services, enabling smooth communication and enhancing the overall efficiency of medical care.
Additionally, the Labor Affairs Bureau reminds employers and employment agencies to comply with the Regulations for Permission and Supervision of Private Employment Services Institution and the Standards for Fee-charging Items and Amounts of the Private Employment Services Institution. If migrant workers require translation services for medical visits, the agencies are obligated to provide such services as stipulated in their agreements and are not allowed to charge migrant workers additional fees.
