Following the enthusiastic response to its previous boarding pass promotion in collaboration with Air Macau, the Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau is launching another exciting offer. In partnership with Taichung International Airport, Korean Air has been operating daily flights between Taichung and Seoul Incheon since November of last year. This March, the airline introduced a new corporate identity and upgraded in-flight meals across all cabin classes, providing passengers with more flexible flight options and an enhanced travel experience. To further develop the Korean market and attract more Korean visitors to Taichung, the Tourism and Travel Bureau has once again joined forces with Korean Air to launch a highly acclaimed promotional campaign. From now until December 31 of this year, passengers can present their Korean Air boarding pass to enjoy exclusive offers at 18 unique local businesses in Taichung. These exclusive offers span across dining, accommodations, attractions, shopping, and transportation. Korean travelers are warmly invited to explore Taichung in depth and experience the city's distinctive charm!
Director Chen Mei-xiu of the Taichung City’s Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that, according to statistics from the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, South Korea surpassed Japan to become the top source of inbound travelers to Taiwan between January and February of this year, with over 220,000 visitor arrivals. To further capture the Korean market, in addition to the boarding pass promotion launched in collaboration with Korean Air, the airline is also actively promoting this campaign through various channels, including its official app—which has over 33.15 million global members—electronic direct mail (EDM), and the app of Hyundai Card credit card. These efforts significantly contribute to the marketing of Taichung as a travel destination. To boost visitor traffic at Taichung International Airport, travelers can now fly the “Taichung–Incheon” route with Korean Air and seamlessly connect in Seoul to over 100 global destinations, thereby increasing Taichung’s international visibility. Furthermore, the Tourism and Travel Bureau is planning to lead a delegation of Taichung tourism industry representatives to South Korea in the second half of the year to jointly promote the flight route and foster mutual growth in tourism.
According to Xu Min-ting, General Manager of Korean Air’s Taipei Branch, Korean Air has officially unveiled a new corporate identity this year, featuring a minimalist and elegant logo, along with a comprehensive upgrade of its in-flight services. To allow more residents of central Taiwan to experience Korean Air’s high-quality service, the airline is offering a special promotional fare for the Taichung–Seoul route, starting from NT$5,400. Discounted tickets must be purchased between now and June 12, 2025, and are valid for departures from May 28 to December 31, 2025.
