To deepen industrial cooperation between Taiwan and Japan and strengthen international economic and trade exchanges, the Taichung City Industrial Development and Investment Promotion Committee (IDIPC) and the Golden Hand Association held an online video conference yesterday (19th) with the Confederation of Oita Industry, Japan. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the upcoming industrial matchmaking event in November, during which Taichung enterprises will visit Oita Prefecture. The meeting was lively, reflecting a strong consensus on deepening bilateral cooperation.
Secretary-General of Huang Yu-Shan of IPIPC noted that Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen places great emphasis on industrial development and is committed to advancing the economy. With its well-established precision machinery industrial cluster and favorable investment environment, Taichung has attracted international enterprises to expand their presence, including major corporations such as Micron and TSMC, making the city an indispensable player in the global supply chain. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Friendly Exchange and the establishment of a sister city relationship between Taichung City and Oita Prefecture, Japan, bilateral interactions have been frequent and fruitful. As early as 2017, local enterprises in Taichung entered into joint product development agreements with companies in Oita, marking a significant milestone in industrial exchanges between the two regions. Oita Prefecture has led multiple delegations to visit Taichung, while the Golden Hand Association has also visited Oita for exchanges. These interactions have fostered a strong foundation of mutual trust and opened new opportunities for international cooperation.
Secretary-General Huang noted that Taichung’s renowned “black-hand spirit”—a term symbolizing exceptional technical expertise and flexible manufacturing capabilities—is a key factor attracting international enterprises seeking partnerships. The “Taichung City Golden Hand Award” represents the pinnacle and prestige of the manufacturing industry and has long partnered with IDIPC to promote industrial exchange, showcasing the collective strength and international competitiveness of Taichung’s manufacturing sector. The upcoming exchange visit to Japan in November has received enthusiastic support from vendors, with numerous companies already registered to participate. It is anticipated that this initiative will help expand market reach, secure new partnership opportunities, and inject fresh momentum into Taichung’s industrial development.
According to IDIPC, the meeting today was jointly attended by representatives from IDIPC, industry leaders from Taichung, and key officials from Japan. Participants included Secretary-General Huang Yu-Shan of IDIPC, President Kuo Yuan-Chin, Vice President Chang Jui-Cheng, and Chairman Hsieh Shun-Hsing of International Affairs of the Golden Hand Association, as well as Chairman Yasumasa Furukawa of the Confederation of Oita Industry, along with six other Japanese representatives. During the meeting, the Japanese side also expressed its hope that the in-person matchmaking event in November will serve as a platform to deepen technical exchanges with outstanding enterprises from Taichung and to establish closer partnerships.
