With the arrival of summer vacation, the Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau presents this season’s top family-friendly travel recommendations. These thoughtfully curated experiences combine water and land amusement parks, interactive activities, forest adventures, and equestrian camps to create enriching and inspiring summer itineraries. Whether it’s a fun-filled day trip or a multi-day exploration, children can enjoy unforgettable moments of joy while gaining valuable memories of personal growth—making it a truly meaningful summer holiday for the entire family.
Director Chen Mei-Hsiu of the Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that Taichung offers both urban convenience and natural beauty, boasting abundant tourism resources and family-friendly activities suitable for all ages. This summer, the bureau especially recommends the limited-time programs launched by Lihpao Resort, Houli Horse Ranch, and Dongshih Forest Garden. You can enjoy an exciting day at amusement parks, unwind with a refreshing afternoon forest walk, or admire the evening skyline from atop a Ferris wheel. Additionally, you can take part in a one-of-a-kind equestrian summer camp that extends the joy of play into meaningful learning experiences, which are just families expect from a diversified vacation. These programs are thoughtfully designed to be both entertaining and educational, encouraging children to develop independent thinking and empathy through exploration, while also deepening family bonds through companionship.
According to the Tourism and Travel Bureau, this summer, Lihpao Resort is offering an unprecedented array of attractions and activities. Its water and land theme parks have launched brand-new events—“Pink Summer” and “Arrival of the Sprites,” respectively. From July 1 to August 31, Lihpao Resort is introducing a special “FUN Summer Combo” promotion, where guests purchase a ticket for Discovery World or Mala Bay can enjoy an upgrade by paying just NT$100 more. The upgrade allows access to both water and land theme parks or to one park plus a ride on the Ferris wheel. This offer applies to general admission, student, child, and elderly tickets, etc. Even more value awaits resort members, who are entitled to a complimentary upgrade, making this promotion highly cost-effective! Additionally, from July 5 to August 31, visitors can take advantage of the “Twilight Duo Ticket” deal, which allows two guests to enter the park after 4 p.m. for just NT$499. You can enjoy the attractions in the cool of the evening—comfortably and affordably.
Beyond amusement parks, Houli Horse Ranch is also launching the 2025 Little Pony Brave Village: Summer Adventure Camp. Running weekly from July through August, the three-day camp—held from Monday to Wednesday—is specially designed for children aged 7 to 12. The program integrates a diverse range of engaging and educational activities, including horseback riding training, horse care techniques, fantastical pony painting, magical performance shows, cycling sessions, emotional guidance, and team-building exercises. Emphasizing the concept of “learning through play,” the camp encourages children to develop discipline, a sense of responsibility, and self-confidence through close interaction with horses. Houli Horse Ranch is well-equipped, with professional instructors and comprehensive safety measures, earning the trust of many parents. As the number of spots is limited and registration is in high demand, families interested in participating are advised to sign up early through the official website.
In addition, Dongshih Forest Garden is introducing its summer-exclusive “Forest Exploration Challenge,” running from July 1 to August 31. Visitors who purchase an admission ticket will receive a challenge card. By collecting five stamps at designated checkpoints, including the Forest Hall and the Forest Bathing Trail, participants can complete the challenge and enter a prize draw at the Visitor Center. Prizes include an Apple Watch, folding bicycles, accommodation vouchers, and other exciting gifts. This event offers a fun and healthy way to create refreshing summer memories in the mountains with family.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau reminds the public that all promotional offers and event details are subject to the official announcements of each participating business. Visitors are advised to check the respective official websites for the most up-to-date information before setting out. Parents are warmly encouraged to take advantage of the summer break to bring their children to Taichung for a fun-filled and educational getaway—creating joyful, lasting memories for the whole family!
