To show care for migrant workers in Taichung and to promote their physical and mental well-being through positive recreational activities, the Taichung City Government’s Labor Affairs Bureau is hosting the International Migrant Worker Leisure and Recreation Activity Plan this year. The first session will kick off on July 27, followed by other sessions on August 10, August 24, August 31, September 7, and September 21. All sessions will take place at Lihpao Resort, a popular destination among international visitors. Registration is available online, and participation is entirely free of charge. All migrant workers currently employed in Taichung, along with their employers and management personnel, are cordially invited to take part in this event.
According to the Labor Affairs Bureau, the event features a combination of amusement park experiences, cultural exchange activities, informative sessions on relevant labor laws and regulations, and interactive quizzes with prizes. It aims to provide migrant workers from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and other countries with an opportunity to relax, make new friends, and enjoy a joyful time. The event includes shuttle transportation to the venue and multilingual volunteer support. To foster harmony and collaboration between employers and migrant workers, friendly employers and management personnel (including recruitment agents) are also invited to join, promoting healthy recreational engagement, and encouraging a balanced approach to work and life.
Labor Affairs Bureau Director Lin Shu-yuan noted that Taichung has over 100,000 migrant workers, who are important partners in the city’s industrial and economic development. Through this event, the city government hopes to show care and appreciation for these individuals who have traveled far from home to work alongside Taichung citizens. She warmly invites migrant workers and their workplace partners to take part in the event, create meaningful memories together, and experience Taichung’s welcoming, diverse, and inclusive spirit.
The Labor Affairs Bureau added that migrant workers play a vital role in fields such as caregiving and manufacturing. The city government remains committed to providing a wide range of services, including legal consultation, language courses, empowerment training, and cultural activities, to ensure that migrant workers can work with peace of mind and enjoy a happy life in Taichung.
