Taichung’s coastal region is experiencing rapid development, and with the growing transportation needs brought by population growth, the city government continues to strengthen its public transportation system. The Transportation Bureau has announced that, starting August 18, CTbus Bus Route 95 will add a new branch line operating between Dayong Siwei East Road Intersection and the Waipu Senior Citizens Activity Center. This expansion aims to comprehensively enhance service quality and advance the goal of sustainable transportation. The total number of daily trips has now been increased to 56 on weekdays and 40 on weekends, further integrating the bus service network connecting the Taichung Port area’s townships with the Waipu District’s residential areas.
Director Yeh Chao-fu of the Transportation Bureau noted that since Mayor Lu Shiow-yen took office, a series of major infrastructure projects have been implemented in Taichung’s coastal region, creating job opportunities and attracting many new residents. Recognizing the growth potential of public transportation in the coastal region, Taichung Bus Company and United Highway Bus Company have established new bus dispatch and charging stations within the area. The Transportation Bureau has seized this opportunity, using the addition of new dispatch facilities to strengthen the existing bus network and actively develop new routes. In recent months, the bureau has guided several bus lines to begin service as a way of giving back to the community. The newly launched Route 95 branch line offers commuters, students, and seniors a more convenient option for traveling to work, school, shopping, or community activities.
Director Yeh said that Taichung Bus Route 95 serves as a key shuttle and transfer option for residents in the coastal region, providing an essential means of transportation for many. The newly added Route 95 branch line, starting August 18, will operate between Dayong Siwei East Road Intersection and the Waipu Senior Citizens Activity Center, not only strengthening the connectivity of the Taichung Port area’s townships but also taking advantage of the strategically located bus dispatch and charging stations in the coastal area. These facilities offer drivers a safe and comfortable rest environment, balancing the transportation needs of local residents with the labor rights and well-being of drivers. “By enhancing the efficiency of bus services in Greater Taichung and increasing the number of trips, we aim to meet the travel needs of diverse passenger groups,” Yeh added.
The Transportation Bureau explained that the current Route 95 main line operates 48 trips on weekdays and 18 trips on weekends, with 2 additional short-turn trips on weekdays. Following the adjustment, the main line will run 22 trips on weekdays and 18 on weekends, while the branch line will provide 30 trips on weekdays and 22 on weekends, with 4 short-turn trips on weekdays. The addition of this new major bus route will enhance the capacity of bus services in the Taichung Port, Qingshui, Dajia, and Waipu areas.
Director Yeh noted that the Route 95 branch line significantly enhances convenience and user-friendliness. Its route has been planned with residents’ daily activity points in mind, closely aligning with local transportation needs. As the Taichung Port area’s townships continues to develop, residents are encouraged to make greater use of public transportation and reduce carbon emission together. This will alleviate traffic congestion and help us embrace a sustainable, livable smart city lifestyle. By supporting the establishment of bus dispatch and charging stations, the Transportation Bureau will continue to strengthen public transportation services in surrounding communities.
The Transportation Bureau reminds the public that, beginning August 18, the Route 95 branch line will officially commence operations, alongside adjustments to the schedules of the Route 95 main line and short-turn trips. Passengers can access the latest schedules and trip information through the Taichung Bus Information System, the CTBus official website, the Taichung Go app, or at (https://citybus.taichung.gov.tw/) to stay updated in real time.
