The ASEAN Good Voice singing contest, organized by the Labor Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government, will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at Taichung Park. Now in its 10th year, the event marks a decade of achievement as a platform for cross-cultural exchange. This year’s contest has drawn an impressive 63 participating groups, showcasing the diverse talents and cultural richness of new immigrants and foreign workers in Taichung.
The Labor Affairs Bureau noted that the event has been specially designed with three major highlights, inviting the public to celebrate alongside foreign workers and new immigrants in Taichung. The first feature is the “Delightful Interactive Experience,” which includes a cultural marketplace, challenge games, and a DIY workshop area that encourages exchanges through hands-on creativity. In addition, interactive performances with stage-themed balloon art will further enliven the atmosphere, helping to break down barriers and foster closer connections.
The second highlight is the “Spectacular Singing Contest,” where participants of all nationalities will perform in their native tongues or in multiple languages, interpreting cultural stories close to their hearts. Through song, voices transcend borders to convey heartfelt emotions and the power of cultural expression. The competition is not only a stage for talent but also a vivid reflection of Taichung’s spirit of diversity and inclusion. The final highlight is the “Engaging Quiz with Prizes,” which allows the public to learn in an entertaining way. Questions related to labor rights and policies for new immigrants are integrated into the activity, ensuring that knowledge is both enjoyable and memorable. This approach not only achieves the goal of education through entertainment but also enhances new immigrants’ understanding and familiarity with relevant policies.
Labor Affairs Bureau Director Lin Shu-yuan noted that over the past decade, the ASEAN Good Voice has become an important platform for cultural exchange among new immigrants and foreign workers in Taichung. Through music, participants share their life stories, allowing more people to recognize their efforts and contributions to the city. She emphasized that the city government will continue to foster a welcoming and diverse environment, enabling foreign workers and new immigrants in Taichung to live with peace of mind, apply their talents, and, at the same time, encourage citizens to gain a deeper understanding of and respect for different cultures.
The Labor Affairs Bureau emphasized that the ASEAN Good Voice is not merely a competition, but also an important opportunity for cultural exchange and social integration. Through music, interaction, and learning, the event reflects Taichung’s respect for and inclusiveness toward foreign workers and new immigrants. As the event is marking its 10th anniversary this year, the bureau sincerely invites citizens to bring their families to Taichung Park to experience the beauty of cultural diversity and cheer on the contestants.
