Early autumn in September is the perfect season for outings. At Civic Square, on September 20–21, the Taichung City Government’s Tourism and Travel Bureau will host the 2025 1st World Bird Fair in Taiwan. The event will feature 120 booths set up by bird conservation and eco-tourism organizations and travel businesses from over 30 countries and across Taiwan, showcasing birdwatching information and equipment. Visitors can conveniently take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle’s Taichung Midtown Bus Loop (11) to Civic Square, where they can explore forest bird ecology—and even receive special gifts!
The Tourism and Travel Bureau noted that, to promote tourism along Taichung’s coastal route, it produced a promotional video titled “Happy Travel Map.” In the video, a flight attendant from T’way Air rides Taichung Dynamic Coast Route (679) and experiences the attractions firsthand, sharing Taichung’s coastal charm with the world. The Taiwan Tourist Shuttle’s Taichung Dynamic Coast Route (679) takes visitors to explore the highlights of the coastline and create their own unique “travel map.” Welcome both domestic and international travelers to follow along with the flight attendant and enjoy the beauty of Taichung’s coastline.
Tourism and Travel Bureau Director Chen Mei-xiu highlighted that Taichung boasts abundant tourism resources, with distinct landscapes across its mountains, coastline, and urban areas. She encourages the public to take the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle for a low-carbon, sustainable travel experience. This weekend, she recommends riding Taichung Midtown Bus Loop (11) to Civic Square to join the 2025 1st World Bird Fair in Taiwan. The Tourism and Travel Bureau has specially set up a themed booth called “Taking Taiwan Tourist Shuttle for Birdwatching Fun,” designed to perfectly recreate the interior of the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle’s Dasyueshan Route (889) bus—giving visitors the feeling of emerging from the forest as they explore the fair.
In addition, visitors attending the event can receive limited-edition practical gifts—such as Taiwan Tourist Shuttle folders, stationery sets, and promotional items from partner stores—simply by taking photos and checking in at the site. Purchasing a Taiwan Tourist Shuttle package ticket comes with extra gifts: one package earns a cypress bus-handle keychain valued at NT$250 (limited to 70 per day), while two packages earn a crossbody bag valued at NT$599 (limited to 50 per day). Everyone is invited to explore the Bird Fair, collect these special gifts with ticket purchases, and then take Dasyueshan Route (889) to admire Taiwan’s native bird species in their natural beauty!
The Tourism and Travel Bureau also encourages visitors to explore Taichung using the Taiwan Tourist Shuttle. The newest popular attraction, Taichung Aquarium, is easily accessible via Route 679. The bus interior is designed to make passengers feel as if they are diving into an underwater world. At the Taichung Aquarium stop, a charming zebra shark-themed bus stop awaits before visitors enter the aquarium, offering a truly immersive marine-themed experience. Beyond the aquarium and the nearby Wuqi Fisherman’s Wharf, Route 679 also serves attractions such as Wuqi Old Street, Chaoyuan Temple, and the Wuqi Cultural Branch Office, all great spots for sightseeing and trying local food. For those who love local street food in Dajia, the Jianggong Road Night Market near Dajia Station is a must-visit. Visitors are invited to follow the promotional video “Happy Travel Map” and ride Route 679, enjoying both convenient and fun transportation while exploring the scenic Taichung coastal route.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau added that the Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications is launching the online campaign “Taiwan Tourist Shuttle: See You on the Next Wonderful Trip” from now until November 30. Participants will have the chance to enter a lucky draw. Spend a weekend in Taichung visiting the Bird Fair, purchase a shuttle package ticket, and follow the routes for a relaxed Taichung trip.
