As the National Day holiday approaches, the Taichung City Government has carefully planned a series of celebratory and tourism events. From the vibrant National Day Gala and flag-raising ceremony to the water-themed “Crazy Fun at Daan Seaside Paradise” experience, the popular “Rock in Taichung” music festival, and the Taichung International Animation Festival, the city offers a diverse lineup of festivities for everyone to enjoy. Mayor Lu Shiow-Yen noted during today’s (7th) municipal meeting that this year’s National Day events combine elements of culture, art, and leisure, showcasing the city’s charm. “The events are truly spectacular—I warmly invite everyone to celebrate National Day in Taichung!”
Mayor Lu explained that this year’s National Day Gala, organized by the Taichung City Government, will take place on the evening of Thursday, October 9, at the Fulfillment Amphitheater in Wenxin Forest Park. The event will revolve around three main themes—“Republic of China,” “Vibes of Taiwan,” and “Taichung Style”—promising a spectacular performance. The public is reminded that admission is free and no tickets are required; however, seating is limited. Queueing for entry will begin at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. For those unable to secure seats inside the venue, large screens will be set up throughout the park to broadcast the live performance, allowing everyone to enjoy the celebration.
In addition, following tradition, the Taichung City Government will host the National Day Flag-Raising Ceremony at 8 a.m. on Friday, October 10, at the front plaza of the Taichung City Government, inviting citizens to join in celebrating the country’s birthday. To thank early participants, the city government has prepared 5,000 commemorative three-in-one LED desk lamps, which will be distributed starting at 6:30 a.m. while supplies last. Citizens are encouraged to take part in the ceremony and celebrate this special day together.
To welcome the National Day long weekend, various city government departments have also arranged a wide range of exciting events. Mayor Lu noted that on October 10, the Tourism and Travel Bureau will launch the “Crazy Fun at Daan Seaside Paradise” tourism promotion event at Daan Seaside Paradise, featuring a variety of water recreation activities such as stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kitesurfing, kickboard swimming with fins, and water carpets. Professional coaches will be on site to provide guidance, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience even for beginners. The event will also include a bubble party on the lawn, a themed market, and other family-friendly activites—making it a perfect outing for all ages. In addition to the events on October 9 and 10, Taichung’s signature music festival “Rock in Taichung” will continue the celebration with performances on October 11 and 12 (Saturday and Sunday) at the Fulfillment Amphitheater. Now in its 18th year, the festival will feature over 50 domestic and international bands, including groups from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Singapore, showcasing a wide spectrum of musical styles. Mayor Lu noted that this year’s event builds upon the successful collaboration with Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, allowing music enthusiasts to experience the vibrant exchange of Asian music culture—without ever leaving Taiwan.
At the same time, the 11th Taichung International Animation Festival will be held from October 11 to 18 at Vieshow Cinemas in TAROKO MALL Taichung. This year’s theme, “Animation, a World of Senses,” has drawn nearly 3,000 submissions from 104 countries. For the first time, the festival will include a feature-length film competition, offering an even richer lineup of screenings at affordable ticket prices. Mayor Lu warmly invites animation enthusiasts from across Taiwan to visit Taichung during the National Day holiday to enjoy world-class animated films and experience the boundless creativity of visual storytelling.
Mayor Lu emphasized that this year’s National Day long weekend in Taichung features an exceptionally diverse program—from the flag-raising ceremony and gala performance to water recreation events, the music festival, and the animation festival—creating a festive and dynamic atmosphere that highlights the city’s cultural vitality and diversity. “We sincerely welcome friends from all over the country to celebrate the National Day holiday together in Taichung!”
