The 2025 Xinshe Sea of Flowers and Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival—the most anticipated floral extravaganza in Taiwan, will be held from November 8 to November 30 at the Second Nursery of the Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station in Xinshe District. Spanning 23 days and covering four weekends, the event will be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This year’s festival takes inspiration from Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls, blending beloved animated elements with the artistry of floral design.
Deputy Secretary-General Chang Ta-chun of the Taichung City Government attended today’s press conference for the opening of the Flower Carpet Festival. The ceremony began with a delightful surprise—the appearance of the Powerpuff Girls mascots, who led the audience into a vibrant visual feast. The festival features 15 large-scale art installations, along with numerous hidden character elements waiting to be discovered! According to Deputy Secretary-General Chang, this year’s main floral carpet is the largest ever, standing 18 meters tall with a diameter of 60 meters, with Mojo Jojo’s base serving as the highest point of the installation. The main installation features automatic performances every 30 minutes, combining bubbles, mist effects, and mechanical motion to create a magical atmosphere. In addition, installations inspired by classic scenes from the animation, such as swings and a donut shop, have been set up within the main carpet area—providing popular photo spots where visitors of all ages can step inside, explore, and capture memorable moments.
Director Chen Mei-hsiu of the Tourism and Travel Bureau remarked that, in addition to the main floral carpet, the venue also features multiple iconic scenes, including the Powerpuff Girls’ home, Townsville’s City Hall, and other familiar settings from the animation. Visitors will not only encounter 3D installations of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, but may also have “unexpected encounters” with Professor Utonium, the Mayor of Townsville, the Talking Dog, and other iconic characters. Villains such as the Rowdyruff Boys, the Amoeba Boys, the Gangreen Gang, and HIM also make appearances as life-size standees, adding delightful surprises throughout the festival grounds.
In addition to the various installations, the event also features the Powerpuff Girls–themed pavilion, offering over 200 types of merchandise and local agricultural products, such as fruit gift sets from farmers, DIY mushroom-growing kits, and citrus jellies, helping to boost local industries and tourism.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau has also collaborated with local communities to promote sustainable co-creation, inviting both seniors and children to jointly create floral art pieces. These works will be exhibited during the festival and later returned to their communities, embodying the core spirits of sharing, circularity, and revitalization.
The Tourism and Travel Bureau emphasized that the 2025 Taichung International Flower Carpet Festival perfectly integrates animation elements, floral artistry, and sustainable co-creation. From the main floral carpet to the floral installations, the festival showcases innovation and delightful surprises at every turn. Welcome people from across the country to visit Xinshe starting November 8 and experience this annual celebration that blends flowers, animation, and the spirit of the city.
