Release date: 2006-03-05

The Taichung City Women's Rights Carnival was held on March 5 between 3pm and 5pm at JingGuo Parkway. Taichung City Mayor's wife Madame Shao XiaoLing and many other VIPs were present that day, wearing the sunflower armbands that symbolize sunshine and hope. They led the citizens in chants calling for the rights of women, hoping that all females will love themselves more, also encouraging men to have more understanding for their partners. It is hoped that children would be taught from a young age about equal rights for men and women, so that trust and respect between the sexes would be cultivated. It is hoped that equal rights education would also start from the family unit itself.

As the women's rights ambassador, Madame Shao XiaoLing expressed that god created women to bring peace and beauty to the world, so that what used to be black and white would become colorful and bright, and most importantly, women ensure that life can be carried on. Madame Shao also told the men present at the ceremony that women are really quite simple, just a few sweet words and helping her with the household chores a bit, would guarantee that she will give you all her heart and soul without regret. Madame Shao also hopes that men and women will trust, love and respect each other, so that equal rights education will begin from the family, creating more peace, love and beauty in this world.
