The Super Supau 2009 Taiwan Boulvard International Marathon (28th Super Supau Road Running Bowl) started at 6 am on August 4th. To keep the game fair, the race organizer adopted RFID chips to record the runner’s time to avoid disputes regarding counting time for the different running start times of runners. In the end, after 2 more hours, Pius Kibet Rotich from Kenya in Africa won the male championship, with a time of 2:27:37, and Emily Chepkemoi Samoei, the other Kenyan runner, won the female championship, with a time of 2:51:15.
According to the Chinese Taipei Road Running Association, the race routes of the Super Supau 2009 Taiwan Boulvard International Marathon (28th Super Supau Road Running Bowl) include a marathon (race length 42.195 km) , half-marathon, 10 km race and 5 km race (recreational).
2 more hours after the start of the race, the champion of the marathon (42 km) was decided. Pius Kibet Rotich from Kenya won the race with the recorded time of 2:27:37, Mathew Kipkorir Sigei took second place with a time of 2:27:49 and Benson Kiprotich Cheruiyot won third place with 2:28:03. The best local runner was Ho Chi-feng; he took sixth place with a time of 2:41:24.
In the female marathon group, the championship winner was Emily Chepkemoi Samoei. Her time was 2:51:15. The second and third prizes were taken by local runners��"Lee Hsiao-yu and Hsu Yu-fang with the times 3:10:21 and 3:27:31.
In the male half-marathon group (21 km), the winners of the first 3 places were Chiang Chieh-wen (1:10:32), Ho Chin-ping (1:11:14) and Wang Chiu-chun (1:14:23). The winners of the first 3 places in the female group were Hsu Yu-fang (1:18:38), Yang Hsin-ling (1:35:32) and Ling Yang-chin (1:37:35).
