Jointly organized by Taichung City Government, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and the Council of Labor Affairs, the 2012 Central Taiwan Job Fair was held at Yangming Building of Taichung City Hall on November 17. More than 6,000 job openings offered by some 60 companies which set up booths there attracted 4,235 people to visit and 3,281 people were preliminarily matched, with a successful job-finding rate of nearly 80%.
Lai Shu-hui (賴淑惠), Director-general of Labor Affairs Bureau, said that this was the largest job fair in Greater Taichung City before the end of the year. “It is the first time that the two central-government agencies responsible for economic development and labor employment work together with local governments to hold such a big job fair to help both our manufacturers and workers. I strongly believe that this event will help our manufacturers to find good talents and any job seeker to find a good job,” added Director-general Lai.
Free shuttle bus service was provided by the job fair organizers. Nearly one thousand job seekers enjoyed the transport service to travel back and forth between Fengyuan Railway Station and the venue. The job fair came to an end at 14:00, said Employment Service Division of Labor Affairs Bureau.
