Drug dealers seized

To carry out the instruction of Mayor Hu to curb the proliferation of drugs, improve law and order, and give our citizens a clean, vibrant, and safe living environment, the Taichung City Government Police Department has been putting a lot of effort to clamp down drug trafficking.
Our First and Seventh Investigation Brigades of Criminal Investigation Corps received intelligence that the drug dealers in central Taiwan gathered together quite often to discuss how to raise price and monopoly the market as the Lunar New Year was approaching and the youth usually held "home parties" during the winter vacation when they would consume drugs, including MDMA、Ecstasy, and Ketamine, etc.
According to the intelligence, those drug dealers often met at a meat factory located on Tsaoti Road of Tali District in Taichung City. Some plain clothed policemen had been thus assigned to monitor and investigate the activities of the gangsters. We then judged timing was ripe to take action on January 23, 2013 and 20 heavily armed policemen from the First and Seventh Investigation Brigades and the Secret Squadron of Public Safety Corps were dispatched to the site to lay an ambush. Seeing more drug traffickers were coming in at around 20:00 that night, our 20 colleagues decided to storm in and snatched at the spot all the five suspects surnamed Xie, Ji, Lee, Dai, and Yiu, although they had tried to escape or hide. They also seized quite a lot of drugs and other evidences from the dealers’ vehicles and portable bags, including 46.8 grams of heroin, 140.1 grams of amphetamines, 400.5 grams of Ketamine, 19 mobile phones (10 of which contained SIM cards), 13 SIM cards, 2 sets of electronic scales, 1 snorting tube, 1 Ketamine disk, 1 large package of small bags, and 7 identification cards of other people. The five suspects have been charged for violation of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act and the case has been transferred to Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office for further investigation.
It is urged by the police that our youth should always say “NO” to drugs, so that one will never fall prey to drug addiction, which may lead to jail terms and hurt oneself, one’s families and the society.
