
The judges were composed of scholars and experts from the agricultural improvement stations and agricultural research institutions. They rated the Nuomici lychees by such criteria as the average weight of a single lychee, the number of lychee sin a single string, the shapes of lychees, the flavor and taste, the sugar contents, and the proportion of small-sized seeds. Each winner of the Grand Prize was awarded medal and prize money of NT$10, 000; each First Prize winner was given a medalandNT$5, 000; and an Excellence Award winner was granted a medalandNT$3,000.
Agriculture Bureau said that as an importantly Chee Cultivation area, Taichung City had1,987 hectares of lychee farms in 2013, among which only 200hectares were planted with Nuomici varieties, distributed in districts, such as Taiping, Wufeng, Dali, Shalu, Qingshui, Daya, Shenkang, Longjing, Fengyuan, Shihkang, and Beitun. Lychees are being harvested and it is peak reason for Nuomici lychees at the moment and the best time to try them. As their production quantity is small, consumers are advised to hurry up for the purchase.
