"Drum God": An artistic cultural exchange between two shores
兩岸藝術文化交流展演《鼓神》
The "Drum God" dance came from the Minnan Traditional Festive Art Performance between Taiwan and mainland China. Centered on the "Zhentou" (a group performing during traditional Taiwanese religious festivities) Drum performances, the Taiwanese Chio-tian Folk Drums and Arts Troupe acts out encounters between humans and the gods, searching for the mundane, vulgar world via dance. Through strong and weak, fast and slow beats and rhythms, the fluctuating drum music interprets emotions. And through the masculine "yang" and feminine "yin", harmony is reached. The dance integrates modern elements with a traditional foundation, as this work makes music with drums and expresses feelings with dance, between heaven and earth, displaying the genuineness, kindness and beauty of humanity.
