The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Executive Yuan sent a letter to every city and county environmental protection bureau on October 7, 2013 to inform that effective from December 1, 2013 onwards, the motorcycle exhaust inspection compliance sticker is not required to adhere on the license plate any longer.
The EPA said that all the data regarding the regular motorcycle exhaust inspection are uploaded to the EPA motorcycle inspection information management system (http://www.motorim.org.tw/) as soon as a motorcycle has completed its exhaust inspection. As a result, the sticker has lost its function. Thus, the EPA has decided to stop printing and issuing motorcycle exhaust inspection compliance stickers in 2014. People who want to enquire into any related testing records can do so by visiting the EPA motorcycle inspection information management system or go over to Taichung City Motor Vehicle Station and ask the inspector there to assist you for the inquiry.
The EPB of Taichung City Government reminded the public not to mistake the cancellation of motorcycle exhaust inspection compliance stickers as the abolition of regular motorcycle exhaust inspection. In fact, the EPB will strengthen the checks on motorcycle exhaust. Any motorcycle without a regular exhaust inspection will be required to make the compliance test before a deadline. If overdue, its owner will be fined of NT$2,000. Thus, people are urged to conduct the periodic inspection on motorcycle exhaust according to regulations so as to avoid punishment.
