In accordance with the paragraph 10 of Article 2 of Mortuary Service Administration Act, the tree burial refers to a burial in which the cremated ashes are mixed with soil and buried under floral plants or trees in public grave yards.
Daken Tree Burial Zone — Qui Si Park (歸思園)
In 2006, the Daken Tree Burial Zone, also called Qui Si Park, was set up in District A of Daken 30th Cemetery. On an area of approximately 0.6 hectares, the Park is planted with cypress, smiling flowers, Podocarpus, Garclinia subelliptica, osmanthus, plum purple, egg flowers, Lagerstroemia speciosa, Taiwan short-leaf pine, etc. Equipped with 1,536 burial cells in a recyclable mode, the Park is not demarcated with any signs or marks and does not provide devices or facilities for burning incenses and joss paper. As of April 2015, all the burial cells have been taken.
Shengang Tree Burial Zone — Chong Pu Park
To speed up the promotion of diverse burial types, the Civil Affairs Bureau has set up the Chong Pu Park at the First Cemetery in Shengang District and opened it to the public since January 2012. On an area of about 2.1 hectares, the Park is planted with Podocarpus, Nageia, wild cherry trees, Japanese black pine, Taiwan short-leaf pine, Taxodium distichum, Calocedrus formosana, Melaleuca, Chinese pistache, Hazel Sterculia and others. 441 of the 3,116 burial cells in the Park have been taken as of September 2015.
Required documents for application:
1. An original death certificate of the deceased to be buried.
2. A cremation certificate.
3. A photocopy of the front and back of the applicant’s identity card (Please provide original identity card for verification.) or the proof of kinship.
4. The applicant’s seal.
5. When a third party is authorized for the application, the proxy should also present the applicant’s power of attorney, a photocopy of his or her own identity card and a seal. (Please provide original identity card for verification.)
