After illegal buildings are demolished by Taichung City Government, debris of walls, beams and pillars are still seen remaining at the site nearby in certain cases. Does that mean the City Government holds different standards in enforcement?

I. The City Government demolishes illegal buildings based on the “Criteria to Judge the Extent of Illegal Constructions in Taichung City to be Demolished to the Un-usable Level”. There are no varied standards in our enforcement.

II. In the present case as mentioned, some walls, beams and pillars are still seen remaining at the site near by neighboring buildings. In accordance with Article Three of the aforementioned Criteria: Other than the rooftop boards, staircases, enclosing walls, if the personnel assigned by the authority holds through the on-the-spot survey that further demolishment proves to be impossible as the actual safety and security may not justify (e.g., further demolishment would damage the neighboring building, or lawfully co-used walls) while the illegal building proves unusable, further demolishment may be dispensed with.
