Located slightly northeast of Taichung basin, our school lies between the Dali River and the Han River, within a natural environment with local cultural elegance. It is the only and the most important cultural center in the community and the most favorite activity center for children. Dong Guang community is rich in cultural and natural resources. Children can always find many interesting materials to learn in school and in community. Our buildup of "Dong Guang Exploration Playground" is meant to integrate Nature with the local culture, craft new charisma for our school, and explore new growth opportunities for sustainable development of our school.

We have therefore deconstructed the traditional concepts and remixed them into new values for Dong Guang. We have begun our ingenuity from the most inconspicuous corners of the campus, which have been successfully turned into areas full of vitality and beauty. We have built the "Dong Guang Time Corridor" to showcase the local history and culture, so that our students, teachers, community residents, and visitors can understand overview of the historical development of this area. We also make good use of every corner of the campus. Using environmentally friendly materials (such as recycled PETE bottles, aluminum cans, newspapers ...), we have created outdoor classrooms for art performances, cultural learning, and reading activities. Every corner of the campus can be multi-functional and is attached with new value, so that our kids can enjoy learning in a heaven-like environment.

The Innovative study tours developed by our school greatly expand the scope of learning. Students are no longer confined to the classroom curriculum. Instead, they have very special courses deeply integrating community culture, local features, and schooling conditions. The unique Dong Guang Study Tours, designed by considering the change of seasons, the traditional folk activities, and plant ecology, are developed into two travel packages: One is "Spring-Summer Tour" containing Customs and Folk Arts, Reading Garden, Mulberry Trip, and Shiny Stage. The other is "Autumn-Winter Tour" containing Historic Exploration, Family Enjoying Reading, Wheat Culture, and Colorful Childhood.

Among all the activities, the Mulberry Trip held during March to May is the one that children look forward to the most. Mr. Wu Qiufeng is so enthusiastic that he provides his "Wa Tea Ecological Farm" adjacent to our campus as a “classroom”, which students always enjoy visiting. In accordance with the planting seasons, our teachers design a series of courses, such as, Mulberry Trip, Wheat Culture, and so on, in a hope that our students can stay close to Nature. During the mulberry blossom season, kids are always very happy, gearing up to enjoy the fruit picking at the farm. Rolls and rolls of fresh mulberry fruits dripping from the trees always make them very excited! "Wow! The fruits of mulberry are rectangle in shape, look green when immature, but turn purple when ripe. That is the time you can pick and eat them." "Clean the mulberry fruits first, put them into the fruit juice machine to make juice, and then add some honey. You get a good drink." Wu Qiufeng said, "Mulberry fruits can be made not only into juice or jam but also as a Chinese herbal medicine. Mulberry is a very good plant." Listening to the kids happily sharing their feeling and looking at their smiling faces when they are picking fruits and when they are drinking juice to make their mouths brightly red, we feel hopeful that the seeds that we have sowed will germinate in their hearts and grow robust. We also expect that based on our efforts, students will find out their own interest and the value of their own existence, continue to develop, and realize their dream to be a giant.

"Dong Guang Exploration Playground" is designed by integrating community resources and campus space, in the hope to deepen a fusion of community culture, local life style and school conditions. The program is meant to give our students good learning environment, fulfill the school’s educational vision: "healthy body, happy heart, and natural feeling", and provide a community arts center, where everyone (including visitors, our teachers and students) can experience the joy of learning. It is also hoped that the program can bring parents, teachers, and students together to build up consensus, just like a rainbow in which many colors exist at the same time. Through selfless devotion of our parents and teachers, we can work together to deepen the roots of better education and our kids can sprout and grow robustly.

The campus of Dong Guang Elementary School is about 17,948 square meters, on which there is an aquatic ecology pool and around which there are lush trees and the "Wa Tea Ecological Farm", where children can experience the ecology and explore the treasure of Nature. Our school is the only education center in the community. Thus, our campus not only provides our students with a good learning environment but also becomes a community arts center, realizing the purpose of "school in the community and community in a school".
