Founded in 1989, American School in Taichung (formerly known as Lincoln American School) is located in the hills of the DaKeng Scenic Area, in Beitun district. AST is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, and provides an American-style college-preparatory education to students in 1st through 12th grade. AST offers Advanced Placement courses, an athletics program, and many extracurricular activities. The school hosts a Model United Nations conference (TAIMUN) that attracts hundreds of attendees each year from schools all over Taiwan and throughout Asia.
