International bank branches and a large number of local banks provide foreign currency exchange services. When exchanging currency, your passport and/or Alien Residence Certificate will be required.

Taiwan residents may buy/sell up to US$5 million respectively per calendar year without restriction. Non-residents are limited to buying/selling US$100,000 per transaction without restriction. Any amount over these limits requires prior application and approval from the Central Bank of China. For remitting funds in and out of Taiwan or from bank to bank, fees will usually be charged, with amounts varying according to the transaction.
