Automatic teller machines (ATMs) are very widespread in Taichung, located in banks, supermarkets, fast-food restaurants, convenience stores and major shopping venues. Banks will issue an ATM card when a savings account is opened. A fee is charged when using another bank's ATM, but not at the account-holder's own bank, with daily withdrawals limited to NT$90,000 to NT$150,000 for one's own bank and NT$60,000 for other banks' ATMs. 

ATMs may also be used to check balances, pay credit card bills and remit funds to accounts in other banks. Most, but not all, local ATMs now provide an English-language option to users. Many local ATMs also have compatibility with foreign ATM systems, such as Cirrus and PLUS.
