The Chingchuankang Airport will be built into a main hub for budget flights. The airport itself and its surrounding areas will be constructed into the Taichung Gateway District, in which an aviation maintenance community will be set up through adoption of such measures as convenient transportation systems, land tax concessions and engineers authentication mechanism and a manufacturing center to make airplane parts and components and offer aircraft maintenance service will be set up by capitalizing the competitive advantages of the precision machinery and machine tool industry deeply rooted in the city. - Project progress
The terminal building of Chingchuankang International Airport has been open to the public since April 2013, resulting in a surge of demand for transportation infrastructure in the surrounding areas. The Urban Development Bureau of Taichung City Government has thus completed the feasibility study on an overall plan to develop the Taichung Gateway District in 2014 and posted the expanded urban planning project for tender bidding on the Internet on February 5, 2015.

It is to balance the supply and demand of idle land and provide land for the Social Housing Units and the industrial and commercial purposes through good urban planning. - Project progress
An overall review on the land uses for public facilities will be conducted to collect information and to develop the principles for forecast analysis, rezoning, and overall planning. Seminars on land uses will be held to seek opinions from the public.

It is mainly for the urban planning for the development of Taili, Taiping, and Wufeng. The 4th overall review on the main urban development plans in Taichung and the integration plan for Taili, Taiping and Wufeng will be conducted. Plans and strategies to expand the urban areas will be formulated. Urban planning projects will be exhibited for public review and deliberation. - Project progress
The integration plan for Taili, Taiping and Wufeng has entered into its final phase of planning.
