Mayor Lin Invited In the Israel “International Mayors Conference” In Enhancing City’s International Relationships

To join the 32th “International Mayors Conference” in Israel, Mayor Lin Chia-long was on airplane last night (10) under the invitation from Israel Government for the smart, sustainable and secure cities with 35 other global city mayors. Premier of Taiwan Lai Qing-de had joined the conference back in 2016 when Lai was the Mayor of Tainan City. To enhance Taichung’s international relationships, Mayor Lin will be meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The trip will also include visits to Mobileye and Orhitec GIS, and participation to MUNI Expo from where to learn the city’s security management strategies and governance experiences and contribute to Taichung smart city development.

Each time the Conference invites city mayors around the world, including Premier Lai joined the one in November 2016 as the Mayor of Tainan City. This year the 32th “International Mayors Conference” will be at Jerusalem 2/11-2/15 joining by the mayors of Milwaukee, Miami, Asunción, Luxembourg, Prague, Nairobi, Tashkent, etc.

Representative of Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei Mr. Asher Yarden and Taichung City Mayor Lin Chia-long had a meeting last December in Taichung and Lin was invited to the 32th “International Mayors Conference”. Yesterday Mayor Lin not only was to fulfill the promise but also took this opportunity to visit Israel PM Netanyahu, the mayors of the three major cities of Israel Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa, so as to enhance international city relationships and promote the upcoming Floral Expo in Taichung.

In addition, Mayor is to pay a visit to Jerusalem’s innovation center of tourism development. Learning from their experience of developing old city area with tourism development and connecting it with Taichung Central District regeneration policy, and the reuse of historical buildings to create another summit of Taichung old city area.

Taichung City is underway of building smart city, hence Mayor Lin schedules to visit Mobileye (Subsidiary of Intel), Orhitec GIS for their advanced digital governance technology in Shuinan Smart Operation Center; to be ready for the upcoming Floral Expo and 2019 East Asian Youth Games, during the MUNI Expo the anti-terrorist m-Prest and R-MOR will be invited as international partners to Taichung City Safety, providing security advice and professional programs.
