Condensation Nuclei Features NT$300M Worth of Art! Taichung’s Cultural Affairs Bureau Collaborates with 3 Major Arts Associations in Taiwan

Condensation Nuclei—A Special Exhibition of Art Groups across Northern, Central and Southern Taiwan” will grandly take place at Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center from October 1 to 27. This special exhibition is a first-of-its-kind event, bringing together one hundred invaluable works from three art associations in the northern, central and southern regions of Taiwan. The exhibition will feature iconic masterpieces by senior artists, representing both an artistic feast and a milestone in the history of Taiwan's cultural development. The exhibited works come from numerous art museums and institutions across Taiwan, with only 19 pieces coming from the Cultural Affairs Bureau's own collection. The rest are borrowed from major institutions, including the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and Tainan Art Museum, offering a broad display of representative masterpieces in Taiwan's art history.

The exhibition's theme, “Condensation Nuclei,”draws inspiration from the scientific phenomenon of condensation, symbolizing the unity and collaboration among art groups. It reflects the collective spirit of artists as they advance local artistic and cultural development through exchanges and creations. The three major art associations—“Tai Yang Art Society”in Northern Taiwan (founded in 1934),“Middle Taiwan Fine Arts Association”in Central Taiwan (established in 1954), and “Tainan Fine Arts Association” in Southern Taiwan (first held an exhibition in 1953)—have been involved in Taiwan’s art development for over 70 years. Centered on the concept of water, the exhibition is divided into six thematic sections: “Gathering into an Impressive Course,” “Irrigating the hometown,” “Rolling Rivers,” “Clear Lakes,” “Surging Forward,” and “Endless Streams.” Each section highlights significant works by artists from northern, central and southern Taiwan, offering a portrayal of the country's artistic evolution and landscape.

Throughout the exhibition, several exciting events will take place, including the grand opening event, “Arts Association Party: A Banquet of Art!” on October 5. On October 12, an international symposium will be held, inviting 20 art historians from Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. Additionally, a book discussion titled “A Spring Decorating Taiwan” will take place on October 19, co-organized with the Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation. Lectures from esteemed artists such as Lin Hwai-min and Chiang Hsun will also be part of the event lineup. Art enthusiasts from all over the country are invited to attend.
