Taichung, the city of happiness!

The Cultural Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government is proud to present the 2025 Taichung Creative Design Joint Exhibition, held from September 12 (Fri.) to September 21 (Sun.) at Dadun Cultural Center. The exhibition showcases the creative achievements of 19 departments of the Taichung City Government, featuring the theme "Taichung, in the Feeling of Happiness".

This year’s exhibition explores 7 dimensions of everyday life—food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, entertainment, and sustainability—infusing aesthetics and innovation into industry and daily routines. It reflects the city’s vision of being a livable and vibrant place, encouraging visitors to rediscover happiness and beauty in their day-to-day experiences.

Chen Jiajun , the Cultural Affairs Bureau Director shared that the Bureau invited Chia-Ling Lowy LIAO, Executive Director of Scandinavian Design, to curate the exhibition. Liao crafted 7 unique color themes to represent aspects of happiness, linking the cultural efforts of 19 departments across the city. Collaborations between 5 local artisans and designers are also featured this year, highlighting concepts of circular economy and sustainable design through beautifully reimagined products that blend craftsmanship, sustainability, and practicality.

"Happiness in Taichung is a heartfelt warmth—a kind of energy that lights up your face with a smile," said curator Chia-Ling Lowy LIAO. This exhibition invites citizens to connect with the essence of happiness through tangible, everyday items. Food packaging, fashion accessories, home goods, mobility tools, educational supplies, leisure products, and upcycled materials—all of them showcasing a different vision of the usual lifestyle.

Some standout collaborations are specifically noted this year:

  • MyEnamel collaborate with designer Liao Po-ching, and developed asymmetrical spindle-shaped enamel chopsticks, cleverly designed to prevent contact with table surfaces—combining beauty and hygiene.
  • The Labor Affairs Bureau presents its "Dream Big in Taichung" program featuring entrepreneurial creations, including Show Handmade’s reinterpretation of the traditional Taiwanese Ga-Ji woven bag.
  • The Industrial Development & Investment Promotion Committee highlights "Taichung's Top 10 Souvenirs, including “Merry Young x Chun Shui Tang Humanistic Tea House collaboration: “Love Beyond Bubble Tea” socks,and Fei Bi Xun Cang’s Coffee Grounds Circular Economy Treasure Box—bringing sustainability into daily life.
  • The Tourism and Travel Bureau promotes mountain tourism with exquisite hiking achievement badges.
  • The Hakka Affairs Council introduces children to Hakka mountain festivals through charming picture books.
  • The Transportation Bureau features the 2024 Golden Transport Award highlights in a special video showcase.

Also Education Bureau, Sports Bureau, Economic Development Bureau, Construction Bureau, Urban Development Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Social Affairs Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Information Bureau, Digital Affairs Bureau, Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, and The Commission of Indigenous Peoples—each contributing local culture-inspired creations that reflect their unique missions, from regional branding and handicrafts to landscape, festivals, and daily living culture.

Additionally, the Cultural Affairs Bureau invited popular YouTubers Scott & Wendy from “Piggy Teammates” to explore and introduce Taichung’s cultural hotspots. Citizens are encouraged to follow in their footsteps and experience the creative pulse of Taichung City.
