Hosted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, the 2026 Qingshui Forest Life Arts Festival is taking place at the Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Park from now until May 10. This year’s event takes "The Wind That Tells Stories" as its theme and features a series of installation artworks, performances, markets, and hands on activities, reshaping the military dependents’ village into a slow living space that combines cultural depth, natural imagery, and environmental values. As the event period coincides with the annual highlights of the Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage and the Dajia Mazu Pilgrimage, the public is welcome to plan a visit to the coastal area and step into Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village to experience its warmth and stories, accompanied by wind and art, while enjoying the ease of springtime.

Director Chen Chia chun of the Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that the Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Park holds the status of both an archaeological site and a cluster of historic buildings, and contains rich ecological surroundings and cultural history. Its weathered red brick walls, well arranged spatial layout, and quiet yet charming alleyways reveal a distinctive cultural and natural character. This year, the Qingshui Forest Life Arts Festival takes the most representative natural element of the coastal area, the wind, as its central theme, making the wind a medium that connects natural landscapes and cultural memories. Integrated with the spirit of environmental sustainability, the event gives concrete form to the sound, shape, and even the scent of the wind. It not only stirs the imagination of art, but also opens the chapters of people’s memories.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau explained that the wind of the coastal area leaves a deep impression on visitors. This year, the park features six imaginative outdoor creative installations, including "Dancing Breeze" windmills, the "Clouds in the Breeze" swing, "Poetry in the Air", "Cats Wandering with the Wind", "Butterflies Dancing in the Breeze", and "Cat Shadows in Motion". Colorful potted creations made from recycled materials also demonstrate creative practices of sustainability and regeneration. In addition, the event incorporates plants found in the park and places cute cat peeking installations throughout the alleyways, inviting visitors to stroll through the village, trace the footsteps of the wind, and discover surprises hidden in the corners.

The Taichung City Seaport Art Center further noted that the outdoor installations will remain on display until May 10. As this is also the season of the annual Mazu pilgrimage events, the public is warmly invited to visit the coastal area and leave behind beautiful spring memories unique to this time of year. This Qingshui Forest Life Arts Festival, which combines installations, greenery, and performances, brings a fresh springtime look to the Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Park. We warmly welcome everyone to visit Qingshui Military Dependents’ Village, browse the market, enjoy hands on activities, and appreciate the exhibitions and performances, while exploring the surprises and moving moments hidden in the alleyways at a leisurely pace.
