The 2026 open call for Taichung Artspots is now underway. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government continues to encourage local businesses to join the Taichung Artspots family, bringing the city’s arts and cultural energy into streets and neighborhoods across Taichung. This year’s open call runs from now until May 20. Any business with a passion for promoting arts and culture and a safe, suitable venue may apply to become a Taichung Artspot. Businesses from all sectors are warmly invited to apply.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau explained that the city government has long promoted Taichung Artspots through certification and support programs, and to date more than one hundred businesses have participated. Each Taichung Artspot serves as a small beacon of urban aesthetics, illuminating artistic creation and cultural energy in every corner of Taichung. The Bureau expressed its appreciation to private sector partners for working together to create diverse and appealing arts spaces, allowing residents to experience Taichung’s unique cultural warmth and creativity. The Cultural Affairs Bureau also organizes annual networking and exchange events for participating members to strengthen professional capacity and help them promote a wide range of arts and cultural events.
Shu-Yi Chang, founder of Moment Soaps, which was newly selected as a Taichung Artspot last year, said that Moment Soaps specializes in bath soap making and the promotion of handmade crafts. The studio is committed to pure cold-process craftsmanship, turning every bath into a healing moment of relaxation and a return to nature. After joining Taichung Artspots, the studio hopes to help the public better understand the artistic qualities of handmade soap. Also newly selected as a Taichung Artspot, the operating team of Ippuku Linsen 40, GLAb Graphic Matter, said that the venue was originally the former Datun District Magistrate Official Residence. Ippuku means “a momentary pause.” The venue is not only a revitalized historic building, but also a platform for cross-disciplinary arts and cultural exchange. Through various cross-sector curatorial projects and activities, it invites the public to pause here for a moment. The team looks forward to working with the city government to bring a stronger sense of culture into everyday life.
Also part of Taichung Artspots, Jo-Ching Chien, Associate Director of Marketing Communications and Planning at Howard Prince Hotel Taichung, said that as a landmark hotel for travelers exploring local culture and experiencing the vitality of the city, the hotel has continued to deepen its brand spirit of “art as life” since joining the Taichung Artspots family in 2017. In addition to launching creative family-friendly activities, the hotel has also collaborated with local artists to curate special art exhibitions. With support from the city government’s Taichung Artspots program and cross-sector connections among partner members, it has successfully linked local creative energy with industry resources, creating hospitality services that combine cultural depth with economic resilience while opening up more diverse opportunities for sustainable tourism.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau further noted that Taichung Artspots is not only a form of certification, but also a platform for shared growth and collaboration in arts and culture. Through public-private collaboration, the city government hopes to transform spaces across all sectors into places where urban art can flourish. Businesses with a passion for promoting arts and cultural activities are warmly invited to join the Taichung Artspots family and work together to light up the city’s beautiful cultural landscape.
