The new generation’s feast of art is taking place in Taichung! Students from all across Taiwan will gather together at Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center in May for the “Young Voices” exhibition for emerging young artists, jointly showcasing cross-generational artistic vocabularies and displaying the robust creativity of the new generation! To encourage artistic creation by young students and facilitate diverse development of culture, Professor Chen Yi-fan of Department of Fine Arts, National Changhua University of Education, coordinates and plans the “Young Voices” exhibition that brings art related departments and institutes from across Taiwan together for a grand exhibition at seven exhibition spaces of Dadun Cultural Center, becoming the nation’s most iconic and transregional feast of art for rising stars.
All participants of “Young Voices” are emerging artists graduating from art departments and institutes. This year, eleven schools and departments are participating in the exhibition. The participants are all outstanding art students chosen to represent their respective departments and schools; the exhibition not only exhibits diverse artistic styles and qualities of different departments and institutes, but also puts their unique teaching features on full display. We hope to present audience the most exciting creative fruits through these outstanding works and innovative media, as well as diverse traditional, modern, post-modern, and contemporary artistic expressions. Diverse creative works by young artists interweave, converse, and fuse, to ignite this interregional, interschool, and interdisciplinary carnival of art, and generate more possibilities of dialogue between art creation and citizens, further giving rise to exciting and brilliant new waves of art!
When artists first burst onto the scene, their youthful creativity brings art infinite possibilities; but their talent and gift are like seeds that must be watered and nurtured in order to bud and thrive from the soil. In addition to selecting and recommending outstanding students to participate in “Art Taichung” like previous years, Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau will continue to organize the “Art Star Program” art map event inaugurated last year. Through offsite exhibitions, we will venture beyond the public sector into local galleries of Taichung, spreading the energy of young artists’ works to the industry, so that this energy connecting the academia, government, and industry can gain more exposures for new artists, allowing them to quickly connect with the industry, and encourage more people to explore local galleries of Taichung, jointly enhancing the vibrancy of the art industry!
