Wang Jili's work Desert Sea Snorkeling won the first prize in the design category of the 7th Fiber Creation Award.

Taichung Fiber Creation Award 120,000 Prize Winner Announced! A total of 339 works from all over the country participated in this year's seventh call for entries. The number of entries hit a record high. After two stages of review, a total of 55 works stood out. The winning rate was only 16.2%, and the competition was quite fierce. The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taichung City Government stated that this year, Wang Jili and Chen Liang won the first prize in the design and art categories respectively. The overall entries were diverse in media, themes and forms, fully demonstrating the rich creativity and artistic energy in the field of fiber creation.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government stated that the Taichung City Fiber Craft Museum is the first professional museum with the theme of fiber in the country. In order to encourage the development and application of fiber materials and enhance the level of artistic creation, the "Fiber Creation Award" is held every year, which has become the first fiber art creation in the country. An important stage for competitive exchanges.
Among them, Wang Jili's work "Desert Sea Snorkeling", the first prize winner in the design category, attempts to apply desert imagery to clothing design, which is very novel and atmospheric. The creator used the ecological story of the Sahara Desert as the background, and entered the desert through fantasy diving. He used different levels of brown and brown colors as a whole to combine the two images of the seabed and the desert. He also cleverly used fine crystals of alum on cotton fibers. It creates a sense of accumulation of time from the ocean to the desert. It is extremely complete and innovative, and was unanimously recognized by the judges.
Chen Liang, the creator of the "One Seat Series" that won the first prize in the art category, is of Paiwan aboriginal and New Zealand descent. She used Taiwan aboriginal moon peach weaving as the main material and technique, and weaved three pictures vertically and horizontally with photographic paper. The overlapping images of family portraits are like cross-recombination of DNA, with a cradle woven with moon peach placed in the center. The composite creation using traditional weaving techniques combined with different materials and audio and video not only showcases the traditional craftsmanship of the aborigines, but also tells the story of exploring one's own culture.
The Fiber Museum explains that the exhibition of this year's winning works will be displayed at the Fiber Craft Museum on September 21, and an award ceremony will be held on the opening day. At that time, the audience can see the contestants' understanding of fiber materials, technology and innovation through these works.
