The 2024 Da Dun Fine Arts Exchange Exhibition is being grandly held at Seoul's Dongduk Art Gallery(同德美術館) from September 25 to October 14. The opening event on September 25 was a success, attended by representatives from the Fine Arts departments of Dongduk Women's University(同德女子大學), Sungkyunkwan University(成均館大學), and Kyonggi University(京畿大學), as well as local Korean art associations. The Cultural Affairs Director, Chen Chia-chun, highlighted that the visit to Seoul this time aimed to promote the exhibition and foster connections with the local art community, setting the stage for future collaborations. On September 26 and 27, they also visited Deputy Speaker Joo Ho-young(朱豪英) of the National Assembly of the Republic of South Korea and Director Lee Hoi-seung(李會昇) of the Cultural Headquarters to share insights on city cultural diplomacy. The trip yielded fruitful results, providing a clearer direction and new possibilities for cultural exchanges between Taichung and South Korea.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau reported that on September 26, a delegation led by Director Chen, representing Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, visited the National Assembly of the Republic of South Korea and met with Deputy Speaker Joo Ho-young. The visit aimed to promote the Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, and foster greater understanding and cultural exchange between Taichung and South Korea. Director Chen also invited Deputy Speaker Joo to attend the Taichung Jazz Festival in October.
Deputy Speaker Joo warmly responded, noting that during his time as Minister, he offered great support in establishing a direct flight route between Seoul and Taichung. Looking forward, he hopes to further collaboration between the two cities.

Director Chen expressed Taichung's desire to strengthen cultural and artistic ties with Seoul, particularly with the upcoming opening of the Taichung Art Museum in December next year. Director Chen hopes to build a strong partnership with the Seoul Museum of Art. An invitation was also extended to Director Lee and heads of Seoul's Cultural Headquarters to attend the Taichung Jazz Festival in October, fostering a deeper relationship between the cities and setting the stage for future collaborations.
Director Lee Hoi-seung said that Seoul places great importance on this meeting and that Seoul and Taichung share many similarities, such as a strong appreciation for culture, the arts, and cuisine. He suggested that the cities could use these similarities as a foundation for future collaborations. The meeting enhanced mutual understanding, and he expressed hope for more substantial exchanges between Seoul and Taichung going forward.
