The 2024 Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, the largest public art exhibition in Taiwan, its exchange exhibition will be showcased at Dongduk Art Gallery(同德美術館) in Seoul, South Korea, starting September 24. The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that since 2007, they have been organizing annual international tours of the Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition's award-winning and archived works to promote cultural exchange. The exhibition has taken place in 15 cities across 10 countries, including the U.S., Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. This year, Director Chen Chia-chun of the Cultural Affairs Bureau led a team to Seoul, further strengthening artistic and cultural ties between Taiwan and South Korea.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. After years of dedication, the exhibition has become a platform for artists across the country to gather and compete, drawing talented artists from over 40 countries worldwide. This year’s prize pool, totaling 5.69 million NTD, is the highest among public fine arts exhibitions in Taiwan. Through the success of this cultural exchange, they hope to encourage more Korean artists to join the event.

This time, the exhibition features 60 exceptional works, including five masterpieces that have received the Da Dun Prize. These pieces were chosen after fierce competition among the first-place winners from 11 categories, including ink wash painting, calligraphy, seal engraving, and glue color painting. The exhibited works display a wide range of unique styles and outstanding technical skills, using different mediums and themes to showcase the thriving development of contemporary art in Taiwan.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the 2024 Taichung City Da Dun Fine Arts Exchange Exhibition grandly opened at 3 p.m. September 25 at Dongduk Art Gallery in Seoul, South Korea. Speaking on behalf of Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Director Chen Chia-chun thanked Gallery Director Kim Sang-chul(金相澈) and the Korean art community for their support, which made the exhibition’s debut in Korea possible. Director Chen also expressed hopes for more extensive and in-depth cultural and artistic collaborations between Taichung and Korea in the future.
