On November 13th, Taichung Art Museum, in collaboration with Sisi Create Art, held a teacher training workshop for the "Open Museum – Architecture Education Program." Nearly 100 educators participated in the workshop, which was based on the architectural design concept of the Taichung Green Museumbrary (referred to as the ‘Green Museumbrary’ below). The program is aimed to develop an architectural education curriculum for schools, encouraging educators to incorporate spatial aesthetics and design thinking into their programs and inspire students' creative thinking abilities.

Taichung Art Museum explained that the Green Museumbrary was designed by Japanese architects Sejima Kazuyo and Nishizawa Ryue of the SANAA architecture firm and is scheduled to officially open at the end of 2025. Architectural design focuses on the encounter between humans and nature, creating a place that embraces people. This teacher training workshop specifically invited SANAA’s resident designers to share the design philosophy behind the Green Museumbrary and guided the educators on a field trip to experience the architectural space, as well as comprehending the design principles. One of the most exciting parts was giving the teachers a chance to create their own architectural models, and build unique museum spaces. Through this hands-on experience, the educators were inspired to develop the planning of their course plans, which they can apply in their classrooms to help students learn architectural design aesthetics.

A teacher from the National Changhua Senior High School, who participated in the workshop, mentioned that high schools currently offer limited courses in three-dimensional spatial creation. She believes this workshop helped enhance her understanding of spatial creative thinking and looks forward to integrating the architectural lesson plans into her future teaching, enriching students' aesthetic experiences. A teacher at Tanyang Elementary School shared that the workshop provided architectural knowledge, site visits, and hands-on activities. More importantly, the core concept was learning about the relationship between humans and the environment, which she plans to apply in future lessons on the topics of libraries, art, and sustainability, inspiring children to open up a deeper appreciation for architecture in their daily lives.

Taichung Art Museum Director Lai Yi-Hsin said that the museum launched its architectural education program this year in collaboration with Sisi Creative Art. The program brings architectural education courses to four schools around the museum. Through professional consultants and teacher training workshops, they have developed practical courses suitable for kindergarten, elementary, junior high and senior high school students. These courses allow students to experience the architectural design process and stimulate their interest in architectural aesthetics. The museum hopes that these courses will serve as the first step for students to get to know the Taichung Art Museum.

The Taichung Art Museum also added that it is currently working with Sisi Creative Art to develop architectural lesson plans and teaching materials, which will later be available for teachers who are interested in applying them. In addition to actively engaging with schools, the museum plans to invite teachers and students from Taichung City to visit after its opening and participate in aesthetic experience tours that combine art and reading, nature, and architecture. This will allow students to absorb aesthetic insights from the Green Museumbrary, and the museum hopes to become an incubator for future artists.
