On December 1 (Sunday), the 32nd National Children's Associative Drawing Contest Final Round kicked off! Director Chen Chia-chun of the Cultural Affairs Bureau revealed the shape for creation. From nationwide submissions, 420 talented young artists participated in a two-hour live drawing challenge. Later in the afternoon, an award ceremony honored 72 outstanding students. Hosted at the Yangming Building of the Taichung City Government, the event included live performances by the Annie & Taco music band, a clown balloon show, and a flavor market. Families and visitors were present to watch the contest and have fun in the mountain area.
Director Chen Chia-chun of the Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the National Children's Associative Drawing Contest is a pioneering national art competition that emphasizes associative creativity, aiming to foster diverse learning and unleash children's innovative potential. By integrating elements of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the contest encourages young participants to care about environmental sustainability and activate their imagination. Appreciation was expressed to schools nationwide for promoting the event, as well as to libraries and art centers for assisting with the distribution of drawing paper. This year witnessed an unprecedented level of enthusiasm, with over 5,000 submissions from second and third graders alone. The contest owes its enduring success to over two decades of sponsorship from Yong Feng Yu Enterprise and the Hsin Yi Foundation, which have consistently provided drawing paper and printing support. Their contributions have enabled the Cultural Affairs Bureau to expand its promotional efforts in art education and lay a steady, long-term foundation for children's art education.
According to the Huludun Cultural Center, this year’s contest was relocated to the Yangming Building of the Taichung City Government due to renovations at the center, and thus, had a unique change of setting. A total of 420 young finalists from around the country, accompanied by their families, took on the challenge of the final round today. The shape for creation in the contest featured architectural line drawings representing urban imagery, and participants had to create novel associative drawings within a two-hour time limit. Afterward, 72 winners were announced during the award ceremony, where prizes and certificates were presented.
The award ceremony featured world-class performances by Jerry Chou, a multi-gold medalist in international competitions, and the W.H.O Theatre, including impressive juggling, professional yo-yo tricks, and illuminated diabolo displays. The event also coincided with the 300th-anniversary celebration of Fengyuan's historic Ciji Temple. A stunning “Blessing Rice Dragon” was displayed at the Yangming Building Plaza, complementing the contest’s planned performances and marketplace. These attractions drew thousands of visitors from across the country, creating a joyful weekend gathering.
