To express gratitude for the selfless dedication of cultural volunteers in supporting arts and cultural activities, the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau hosted the 2024 Cultural Volunteer Appreciation and Exchange—Film Screening at the end of the year. Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Chen Chia-chun attended the event to acknowledge and thank the cultural volunteers. The screening of Taiwan Unsung Hero aimed to uplift the volunteers with positive energy, encouraging them to discover a deeper sense of self-worth through their contributions. It is hoped that the inspiration and positive energy gained from the film will fuel their enthusiasm for volunteer services, allowing them to continue providing exceptional and caring service to the community.
According to the Taichung City Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau, Taiwan Unsung Hero documents the lives of nearly a hundred individuals with disabilities, showcasing their fragility and strength through the director's compassionate lens. The film seeks to promote positivity, much like the city’s cultural volunteers, who dedicate their time and energy to enriching citizens’ cultural lives at art centers, libraries and cultural venues across Taichung’s diverse regions. Their genuine service exemplifies the power of kindness in action. These volunteers also strive for personal growth while offering their services. For example, library storytelling volunteers have advanced from simply telling stories to writing their own, utilizing AI to create entertaining and meaningful picture books. Some have even established a storytelling troupe that travels to rural areas and institutions, bringing cultural experiences to an even broader audience.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau likened cultural volunteers to seeds of art and culture, sowing art and culture across Taichung. On Christmas Eve, to express gratitude, the bureau gifted volunteers a screening of Taiwan Unsung Hero, aiming to spread positive energy. Through the dedication and empathy of cultural volunteers, it is hoped that warm and thoughtful services will be provided to the citizens, contributing to Taichung’s vision as a happy cultural city.
