This afternoon (13th) the “Yu-Chien Tseng Recital” by world-renowned violinist Yu-Chien Tseng and pianist Rohan De Silva was organized at the auditorium of the Tun District Art Center. Their masterful performances of classic compositions, imbued with technical brilliance and deep emotional resonance, mesmerized the audience. Co-hosted by Taichung's Cultural Affairs Bureau and Education Bureau, the event attracted significant attention, with nearly a thousand students and teachers from 19 schools across Taichung's Taiping, Dali, Fengyuan, Dongshi, Qingshui, Shalu, and Dajia districts attending by bus to witness the maestros' artistry firsthand.
According to the city government, the “Yu-Chien Tseng Recital” was a rare experience. Tseng's warm and evocative violin tones harmonized beautifully with Rohan De Silva's piano accompaniment. The concert brought an afternoon of joy to teachers and students, using music's artistic power to enhance the cultural richness of student life in Taichung. By attending this event, students entered a professional auditorium to hear masterpieces like Siddhartha, Tchaikovsky's Valse Sentimentale, and Sarasate's Carmen Fantasy, immersing themselves in the stirring power of music. This event was both an artistic feast and an unforgettable off-campus music lesson.
A teacher from Yimin Elementary School in Taiping District, Taichung, thanked organizers for the chance to take students to the “Yu-Chien Tseng Recital.” In preparation for the event, the school introduced the performance pieces during music classes, hoping to enrich students' experience and foster a deeper connection when attending the live performance. This effort aimed to cultivate a stronger appreciation for classical music.
During today’s event, many young music students sought advice on overcoming practice difficulties and enhancing their performance skills. Yu-Chien Tseng emphasized the importance of consistent practice with a metronome as the key to achieving fluency and confidence. In his post-concert interaction, he encouraged students to courageously chase their dreams and believe that they would shine in life, much like the brilliance of music. For many students, this was their first experience of such a professional live concert. They were moved not only by the allure of classical music but also by the musicians' relentless pursuit of perfection. This inspired them to cultivate a passion for honing their skills and building professional expertise in their own chosen fields.
Today's recital was graced by the presence of Deputy Secretary-General Chang Ta-chun, Cultural Affairs Bureau Director Chen Chia-chun, Curriculum Supervisor Wang Kai-ning of the Education Bureau, and Section Chief Lan Tzu-ling, among others, who gathered to celebrate the occasion.
