To enhance information security and protect readers' personal data, Taichung Public  Library will cease sending SMS notifications for book reservations and overdue notices starting January 1. Instead, notifications will be delivered via email or the official library app. During the initial phase of this new policy, the library is launching a "Bring Overdue Books Back Home" campaign. Until the end of February, patrons who return overdue books will not face a suspension of borrowing privileges. Additionally, the library kindly reminds patrons to check and update their email addresses in the library system to ensure they receive future notifications for overdue books and reservations.

The library noted that the pre-Lunar New Year cleaning season often provides an opportunity to rediscover "missing" books. It sincerely invites citizens to take advantage of this chance to help maintain the library's resource circulation. "Every book is like an old friend we haven't seen in a long time, and its return to the library fills us with a sense of reunion," shared several librarians. They expressed warm feelings whenever overdue books are returned, as these books not only re-enter circulation but also bring a festive atmosphere of reunion to the library. "Every book carries its own story and value. We hope they can continue accompanying more readers, serving as companions for growth and learning."

Moreover, in addition to waiving the suspension for overdue book returns, the library is offering an extra benefit for uncollected reserved books. If patrons are unable to pick up reserved books on time due to the holiday season, their reservation privileges will remain unaffected. This thoughtful gesture ensures that citizens can enjoy a worry-free New Year holiday.
