The 2025 Taiwan-Korea International Art Exchange Exhibition is now open at Exhibition Room B of the Taichung City Seaport Art Center, running from January 25 to February 23, 2025. This extraordinary showcase, co-organized by the Taiwan Fine Arts and Cultural Exchange Association, Korea’s LEADERS FORUM and Biz&Art, brings together outstanding artists from both Taiwan and Korea, offering a diverse and immersive artistic experience. The Taichung City Government warmly invites the public to explore this world-class art exhibition and experience the depth of cross-cultural artistic expression.

Tseng Neng-ting, Deputy Director-General of the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, noted that the exhibition features a wide variety of artistic disciplines, including Western and Eastern painting, sculpture, ceramics, calligraphy, tea culture, and media arts, showcasing a broad spectrum of creative expressions. The Taiwan Fine Arts and Cultural Exchange Association has carefully selected some of Taiwan’s most esteemed artists, many of whom hold prestigious jury and review panel positions or have won major art awards. Their works transform daily life into captivating artistic expressions, resonating deeply with audiences. This year’s exhibition is further elevated by the participation of Korean artists from the LEADERS FORUM and Biz&Art, whose works bring a fresh international perspective to the event. Through their unique aesthetic styles and cultural depth, the exhibition becomes a true fusion of artistic exchange, elevating its significance on the global stage.

A special highlight of the exhibition is the participation of renowned sculptor Yu Teng-chuan and his daughter, sculptor Yu Min-tzu, who present their works side by side. Despite their shared background, their artistic styles are strikingly different. Yu Min-tzu’s sculpture Balance portrays a bear and a young girl standing back-to-back, both striving to maintain equilibrium on a wobbling platform—an allegory for the inner journey of self-discovery and balance. Additionally, acclaimed calligrapher Hsiao Shih-chiung, known for over 40 years of mastery in calligraphic arts, presents three works that merge classical calligraphy with contemporary creativity. His calligraphic expressions draw from oracle bone script, Chu inscriptions, Han dynasty clerical script, and Jin dynasty stele carvings, delivering a distinctive style that captivates viewers.

Korean artist Kim Jin-hee introduces her compelling series The Unbearable Lightness of Being: A Lift Off, characterized by the vivid use of primary colors to evoke powerful emotions. Her paintings vividly depict strong, confident women, reflecting the independence and empowerment of modern women. She explains that her use of bold, vibrant colors represents dreams and hope, aiming to inspire women to lead healthy, self-reliant lives.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to engage closely with these exceptional artworks, appreciating the passion and dedication infused within each creation. Every piece tells a unique story, fostering a bridge between the audience and the artist’s vision. The exhibition’s mission extends beyond the mere presentation of artistic beauty while also aspiring to facilitate cultural dialogue, integrate art into daily life, and enrich the city’s cultural landscape.
