The Taichung City Tun District Art Center is presenting “Spring Brings Life – Luo Cui-zhen Oil Painting Exhibition” in the Aesthetic Space, running until April 6. This exhibition features vivid oil paintings where Luo Cui-zhen explores the hidden beauty of everyday life. With a masterful use of bright colors and intricate light and shadow, she captures scenes of streets, people, landscapes, rural corners, and glimpses of urban life. Her works draw on the symbolism of growing grass and trees to reflect life's challenges and strength, expressing a quiet yet powerful conviction. Welcome to experience her richly themed and deeply expressive works filled with vitality.
According to the Tun District Art Center, Artist Luo Cui-zhen’s oil paintings exude vibes of beauty, kindness, clarity, harmony, and brightness. Whether depicting a bustling market, a tranquil countryside illuminated by a ray of light, or the delicate portrayal of people from diverse cultural backgrounds—such as the hopeful gaze of a foreign girl, the resolute eyes of a weathered man, or a shy woman adorned with an ornate headdress—each piece reflects the artist’s deep empathy and interpretation of life’s stories. Through these works, viewers can experience a shared sense of peace and joy with the artist.
Luo Cui-zhen shared that the theme “Spring Brings Life” draws on the idea that no matter how harsh the winter winds or how thick the snow, the arrival of spring inevitably melts the ice, allowing grass and trees to awaken and embrace new life. This quiet strength mirrors nature’s resilience, much like Bai Juyi’s famous words: Wildfire cannot burn it down, for the spring wind is its source of revival. In the grand scheme of life, no matter how difficult the hardships—akin to a long and merciless winter—so long as one holds onto hope and passion, they too can embrace renewal when spring arrives.
“For me, painting is as more than just a visual language—it is a refuge for the soul. No matter how many setbacks or obstacles I encounter, I remain committed to creating like the grass growing quietly in spring.” said Luo Cui-zhen. As an explorer unafraid of new experiences, she has dedicated nearly 30 years to teaching Chinese. Interestingly, painting—once her most daunting subject as a student—has now become an inseparable, favorite part of her life. She embraces the twists and turns of her life’s journey, trusting that everything unfolds as it should. For her, as long as hope and passion remain, renewal will always come.
This spring, the Tun District Art Center is also showcasing a variety of exhibitions, including “Allotropy—the 16th Graduation Exhibition of the Taichung Municipal Chang Yie High School Junior High Art Program,” “Childhood Revisited—the 14th Graduation and Joint Exhibition of the Da-Yuan Elementary School Art Program (2025), and the “2025 Members' Exhibition of the Taichung Huayi Women’s Art Association.” For more information, please visit the center’s official website (www.ttdac.taichung.gov.tw) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ttdac).
