ART TAICHUNG 2025(臺中藝術博覽會) grandly opens on July 4 at Millennium Hotel Taichung(臺中日月千禧酒店), occupying floors 8 through 11. This year’s fair brings together 62 galleries from both Taiwan and abroad, including 11 international galleries from countries such as Japan and South Korea. It also collaborates with three major domestic platforms for emerging art awards. Notably, many award-winning individuals of the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition(大墩美展) are participating, with over 3,000 artworks on display by more than 500 artists.
Since 2013, the Taiwan Art Gallery Association(社團法人中華民國畫廊協會) has organized ART TAICHUNG for 13 consecutive years, bringing a vibrant wave of art to Taichung every summer. The fair showcases outstanding works in high-quality exhibition spaces, attracting large crowds and garnering significant attention from the art community. It has become one of the most prominent art industry events in central Taiwan.
Director Chen Chia-Chun of the Taichung Cultural Affairs Bureau noted that the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, now in its 30th year, has elevated Taichung’s art scene to the international stage, with its presence extending across 17 cities in 11 countries, showcasing the city’s strong creative capabilities. Many of this year’s participating artists at the art fair are past winners of the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition, highlighting the fruitful collaboration between the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the art fair in advancing artistic development. Chen also announced that the highly anticipated Taichung Art Museum will officially open on December 13. Looking ahead, the city government will continue to collaborate with the art fair and creators from various fields to propel Taichung’s art scene to new heights.
This year’s ART TAICHUNG marks the highest level of international participation to date. Lai Yi-hsin, Director of the soon-to-open Taichung Art Museum, also attended a special forum to share insights into the museum’s preparation process and guiding vision ahead of its opening later this year. ART TAICHUNG continues its collaboration with three major platforms for emerging artists: “The Young Voices(藝術新聲)” by the Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center(臺中市大墩文化中心), “Luminous Art Marketing(璞玉發光)” by the National Hsinchu Living Arts Center(國立新竹生活美學館), and the “NTUA Young Talents Awards (臺藝新人獎),” jointly organized by the Taiwan Art Gallery Association and National Taiwan University of Arts(國立臺灣藝術大學). Under the “The Young Voices” program, 13 emerging artists are showcasing their works at the fair, with an additional five young artists exhibiting through artist-in-residence programs. These efforts reflect the successful partnership among government, academia, and industry in nurturing the next generation of artistic talent.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau further expressed its gratitude to local artist Ms. Wu Mien-Chen(吳綿珍) for her generous sponsorship, which supported exhibition expenses for emerging artists. Her contribution has played a vital role in fostering intergenerational continuity and the ongoing transmission of artistic heritag
